Up front, there is zero chance they do this, but to me this is the best way out of this where they are to be fair and save face.
Prior to conference championships:
Miami #9
ND #10
Bama #11
BYU #12
Miami justified over ND for obvious reasons and over Bama for FSU common opponent and eye test over the last month.
Both Bama and BYU can earn their spots by winning next weekend. If they don’t, that’s on them. If one wins, ND is out. If both win, both Miami and ND are out, which is more than fair given BYU would have one loss and conference champ and you don’t punish TTU. In that case bookend the season with Miami-ND in a bowl game.
Committee avoids ND-Miami mess and still allows Bama a chance to be in over a team they own.
