  1. Miami must replace Chad Thomas and Trent Harris from its 12th-ranked defense, but Jonathan Garvin is ready for a starting spot.
    "The guy's just a freak of nature," fellow D-end Joe Jackson told Matt Porter of the Palm Beach Post. "Speed. Strength. Power. He's very consistent. He's got the work ethic. He's probably the fastest person I've seen develop in college football."
    Coming from Jackson, who recorded 23 tackles for loss with 15 sacks through his first two seasons, that's considerable praise.
    Garvin played limited snaps behind the deep unit in 2017, but he still notched a pair of strip-sacks in consecutive games against Virginia Tech and Notre Dame. He recovered both fumbles, too.

It's good to see Garvin get recognized, but while reading this write up, and saw they mention we had the 12th ranked defense. So I realized is was Yards per play. Man, we have got to get better on 3rd downs (stating the obvious), on both sides of the ball. They ran so many plays on our Defense, and we still held teams to 4.77 yards per play. That's ******* amazing. We could have been stupid good last year if our 3rd percentage was at least average. Got dam!

Multiple 3 and outs by the offense also contributed to that. Couple the offensive inconsistency with the fact that we played 10 games in a row, and man our defense was just flat wore out at times. Imagine having a bye week after that Syracuse scare to get our ish together?

We all knew that about him already lol. Glad to see that he’s getting national attention.
 
I still chuckle looking back at when some recruiting services had Garvin and Ford as 3 Stars coming out of high school.
 
Can't wait to see pictures of Garvin surface from this spring .... feel like it going to be that moment in GOT when they show Gregor Clegane
 
When I saw Garvin's tape from his junior year, I couldn't believe he was a 3 star kid. All he did was dominate top competition. Then his senior year he goes out and gets 4, 5, 6 sacks a game. If there was ever a 5 star DE, it was Garvin. I know he evenually got a 4th star, but if Chick was a 5 star, Garvin was as well.
