Does anyone on this board have any legit insight into Mario and his level of self awareness right now?
I'm curious to hear if this guy actually possesses any awareness of how he is perceived from the outside, or where his faults are as a coach (i.e. game day manager, archaic offensive philosophy, player discipline issues)?
I wonder if he actually puts stock into any of those areas, or if he's the type that makes it on everyone but himself - player execution, assistant coaches, luck of the bounce...
From my outside perspective, I'm 100% sold on Mario not being the guy. I don't think he has any idea how to run a modern offense, create a culture of accountability, develop smart football players, or manage even the most basic game situations.
But most importantly, I don't think he has any self awareness of his deficiencies and weaknesses, nor any desire to try evolving and progressing his approach to anything. That level of arrogance is one of the worst traits you can posses as a person.
For the Mario supporters, yes TVD sucked for the majority of the year, yes Dawson is a JAG, and yes the defense sucked today. All can be true alongside Mario not being the guy, these aren't mutually exclusive - they actually add up to 6 and 5 weirdly enough.
I wrote about this the other day, old dog new tricks... people have the ability to change, but only if they have the desire. Josh Pate is big on this idea, just because it hasn't happened before doesn't mean it can't. CFB is wild, unexpected ish happens all the time.
Go canes.
