Coaches "Systems"

As we have experienced our frustrations with Richt and being set his ways he's not the only one. Mike Leach looked awful last night in his 5th consecutive double digit loss to Washington. After the game the Washington DC "They do the same thing year in and year out. This is 5 years in a row now so it makes it real easy to gameplan when the offense does the same thing every year". Was texting with my buddy in Seattle who was at an Apple Cup watch party that Washington was doing the same thing on defense every play (rushing 3, dropping 6 and safeties running with deep threats). Point being is that Leach loves his system and sticks to it regardless of what's happening the same way Richt does. Richt's favorite term "execute" is a common one as so many times we see coaches go against what we are yelling at them to do from the stands or our living room. It's their strong belief and more likely their arrogance that their way if done properly trumps all. Richt's comment of "these plays have worked for the last 30 years" and the Huskies DC's comment above validate how stubborn and arrogant these coaches are. Take a look at Saban's offense under McIlroy/McCarron and how different it looks with Hurts/Tua and it's not secret he's adapted to his personnel putting his ego bigger than all aside because the best leaders know how to adapt. Golden was another prime example with "his wefense" that got him into hot water being so stuck and set in his ways. This is not a post to say that Leach is a bad coach but more so that we aren't alone with the stubbornness/arrogance with Richt.

Listen..

Mike Leach is not dealing with the OL and QB issues we are at the []__[]. Mike Leach has been at WSU for 6 seasons (going 3-9 twice in the PAC12) and had to bring in a grad transfer this season because apparently he didn't have enough at QB. Let Richt get his guy at the helm before we start ****ing ourselves.

Also, any time you use Nick Saban or Alabama as an example of ingenuity you're announcing to the world how limited your understanding of the game is. That school has more talent, coaching support, continuity, money, and margin for error than anyone in CFB. Alabama typically out-talents the opponents when they're not outright losing to Auburn or squeaking past UGA. They execute first and foremost, with little need for scheme creativity or trickery. This year they have the best player in CFB, who touches the ball every play on offense, and that allows them to do some things they haven't done in the past. It's a coaching school the way dude lines up analysts and I give Saban credit for that far more than anything else.

Relax, friend, because it will all be over soon. The team will be better next season, so you in turn can feel better about yourself and not have to start threads like this. At least have some better rationale about why coach Richt makes you so sad, and try not to sound like the army of mopes who can't stop complaining about "scheme" and "play-calling".

Richt get his guy? He handpicked Perry and chose not to recruit a QB this class. Yes, the Saban comparison is simple, we expect the best here as we've have had the best here being coaching that is. The team will be better next year? Based off of what merit holding facts can anyone make that claim? That's DBC level talk. Please save us the "scheme" doesn't matter talk as we've all witnessed the scheme Diaz is running with success compared to Dorito. To reiterate, the post was focused on the stubbornness/arrogance of tenured coaches

“The team will be better next season”

Why?

“The team will be better next season”

Why?

asked and answered ad nauseam.

Mostly attrition from graduating seniors who bought in from day one and were loyal to the program. It's tough to play immature freshman in front of these guys, especially when the freshers don't attend class, practice hard, or understand the playbook. Also, I expect a purge of sorts that will weed out some of the mental softness on the team. I know another offseason of spring and fall camps will do wonders for everyone; including injured players, emerging underclassmen, and someone like N'Kosi who needs to grow up a little more.

As far as the coaching staff, I expect a thorough evaluation and a possible purge or attrition there as well. No one knows what the offseason holds, but I like where we are and our nucleus going into the Spring. We're poised to be a much different team next season and I'll look forward to that.

Lord Saban has the savvy to " change with the times. " That's why he's the BEST and what not! And believe it or not. Lord Saban will go down as the greatest head coach in the post modern era of major college football. Because he will win several more NC's before he retires. Bloody well BOOK IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

People will graduate, leave otherwise, and there will be spring and fall camps. Hope has nothing to do with it.

Did anyone see Sean Peyton literally scheme TD's for a bunch of free agents this past Thursday night? It's not like he was out-talenting people in those instances. Talk to anyone that really follows and knows football - nowadays more than ever, scheme/concept/play-calling absolutely matter.

That will absolutely happen.
It happens every year.
But what can you specifically point at to say we will be better in 2019 than 2018.
Are the younger players accending ?? Are they pushing the older players ?? Is there an upward trend or trajectory you are seeing ??
What is it besides “I hope the players are better next year” ??

:q3xkxex:

The NFL HC, Sean Peyton? The one that coaches Drew Brees?

you mean ascending!? "Are the younger players [ascending]??"

Davis, Scaife, Bevin, Mallory, Wiggins, and Rousseau, all played over upperclassmen. Perry made a drastic improvement over his last two games, and I expect that to continue into the spring and fall.

Do you watch the games, friend?

"......can take his'n and beat your'n, and then he can turn around and take your'n and beat his'n."
Bum Phillips

That's the description of a great coach.

absolutely! So put Nick Saban where Richt is and Richt where he is and see what happens.

I do watch the games and that’s why I’m not as optimistic we will be better in 2019.
Davis - has come on as of late...I’m optimistic but we shall see if it continues. (So did Dallas last year and he has stalled)
Scaife - getting experience but not playing great. We will see if it transalates into better play from him next year (it didnt for Donaldson) regardless you need more than one on the OL and everything else there is a big ?
Brevin - yes started and should be even better next year (also there was no one else at TE)
Mallory - same as Brevin
Wiggins - has shown flashes but nothing that would lead you to believe he will be a difference maker next year.
Rousseau - physically impressive but got hurt the first game so he is still as much of a ? as anyone.(also he wasn’t starting over the upperclassmen)
Perry - impossible to project. I guess we will see how the last two games go but too inconsistent to say he will be that much better next year.

So again...I hope we are better next year but I see nothing but just hope and nothing tangible.
