Coach Likens on Joe Rose this morning

If there was still a real "standard" here, Manure wouldn't even be here. He's a guy who has taken more embarrassing and humiliating historically putrid beatings than any HC we've ever had. It's funny that the guy spewing nonsense about "the standard" wouldn't be here if that standard still existed.

I always go back to the heat Pink Erickson took after going 10-2 in his 2nd year after 11-1 his first year. He legit talked about being in fear of losing his job and having former players calling him giving him ****. That's when there was a real standard at UM. There's been such a slow and steady erosion of the standard over the last 17 years that the new standard is now "let's hope to win the Coastal every few years and not get humiliated by Clemson."

We got fans in here not wanting to play King against Baga because it's an exhibition game to them where we're playing the role of the Washington Generals. They fully expect to get drummed by 50 and don't think it matters at all. When there was a standard here, do you think that would be the mindset of fans?
It’s All About the U has been lost by many. Many. Too many.

Some even try to disguise their self interest by painting the picture of a “standard”....

i was thinking the same thing
Sounds to me like Rambo thought Miami would be a walk in the park for him coming from the mighty OU. Probably heard so much about how inferior our program is and figured he'd have an easy path to showcase himself for the NFL, only to be awakened to the reality that it we aren't nearly that bad and it won't be easy at all. Like going from a large, internationally recognized firm to a small lesser known firm expecting things to be easy but realizing it's actually tougher in many ways.

I'm sure he has been snapped back to reality by now.

X needs to see the field. A lot. Dude can make things happen when he gets the ball in his hands. He's tough and fearless. Play this man.

Pope and Wiggins... I think just like Rambo a change of scenery would do them both a lot of good, but let's see how this Spring and Summer play out.

I gotta agree with the cat saying I wish we would have had the same performances and records that Oklahoma has had in the last decade. They at least compete against the big boys. We routinely get our cheeks clapped by any team with a pules. It’s embarrassing

Not really. Their defense has been a pure embarrassment. They have been blessed with a string of first round quarterbacks, so not surprised they do well on offense. But like Georgia, they haven’t won ****. If “competing” with the big boys is the standard, fine. Not far from Miami’s standard which is no standard at all at this point. I’m sure Miami would’ve had similar results with the same QBs.

Standards for this program is like a fat, ugly dude, saying he's only going to fornicate with models & dimes. He can have those standards until the cows come home, but the only thing that's going to happen is him being single and a chronic *********or for the rest of his life. This sport is DOMINATED by public universities and blue blood programs, because it is governed by a corrupt organization that allows profligate spending. Just because this program crashed the exclusive party for 20 yrs, doesn't mean the rest of its history being mired in mediocrity should be whitewashed and romanticized. Furthermore the only reason why it miraculously crashed the party in the 1st place wasn't because of "higher standards". It was because of supreme court legislation filed by blue blood programs that removed the stranglehold and monopoly by the NCAA on TV rights for games. Without this there wouldn't be a discussion about "higher standards" and expectations surrounding the University of MIA football program, and half of these dyck sucking, delusional, POS fans & alumni wouldn't even exist.

Accepting this reality doesn't mean that I'm holding Manure's and Flakes water. On the contrary it means that I've finally decided to wake up, accept reality, and remove myself from this echo chamber. When you finally decide to spend less time on this forum and actually survey the landscape of CFB you will realize that this current era is one that is not defined by parity. As evidenced by the same teams winning their conference and being selected to the CFB playoffs since it's inception. No amount of higher standards with regards to this university's football program is going to change that reality. So if you ask me "hoping to win the Coastal every few years and not get humiliated by Clemson", doesn't sound all that bad.

It’s ok to admit you’rea casual fan with other interests and possibly even an affinity for other college teams. I don’t expect everyone on here to be as consumed with my alma mater as I am.

You see UM as an ugly, fat dude trying to hit on super models. I see UM as a handsome, wealthy dude, who has put on a few pounds and gotten a little corny in his style and become complacent with chicks. Instead of messing with super models, he’s banging out milfs upon whom he spends no money and gives no effort.

However, as many have proven, if the handsome, old, wealthy dude wants to switch it up and put in the effort, the base is always there.

The world’s littered with young hot six pack abs broke *** loser types in the middle of nowhere wondering how the old suave dude has hot chicks all the time while he’s staring at his abs in the mirror while splacking off to Pornhub.

I’m sorry but I don’t see it. We are no where near Oklahoma in the last decade. There defense has been porous at times but then again so has ours. They are considered a top 5 team year in and out and a favorite to win their conference every year. We pray for a 10 win season and to not get completely embarrassed on national TV, which happens usually twice a year for the last 15 years.
My point is we need to get to their level and start making it to a college playoff game so we can see what it really takes to win a championship in the new era. We can’t even stop a counter play or have a decent offensive line and don’t get me started on the trash that is our receiving core.

He talks about competition - his WR room is in phase two, holding each other accountable. They aren't just worrying about themselves but holding the other guys in the room accountable. He said they are being very detail oriented in spring practice. The goal is to give everyone snaps - he mixes and matches his WR with different QBs so they get different looks and become familiar with each other.

Likens says since January, all the receivers have caught 100 balls or tennis balls every single day.

Restrepo: Says Restrepo is a "football player". Works very hard and loves football. Likens says Restrepo is a playmaker and he is very excited about "X" man...

On Pope & Wiggins:
Tells them they can't listen to outside criticism. Tells them criticism will make you tougher - trust in the process.

On Rambo: He's settling in and getting what it means to play up to the standard at Miami. He's been learning the offense and all the details and really starting to put it all together.

Likens said he is very excited about the young guys on the team in general.

Likens knows Jake Garcia from his time at ASU. Recruited him from the time Jake was in 9th grade. He says that if he was a young wide receiver in the program, he would be very excited about having TVD and Jake as QBs ....

-He said he shows his WR film of different plays and tries to make them understand that if they want to succeed at the next level, it's not just about catching a ball and getting tackled; they need to do something with the ball after they catch it. He said he tells them "they don't give away millions of dollars" for nothing......
Play the best and FUQ tha rest

This need to be a sticky for the 15-0 rim hole lickers

God bless you man. Even if it comes at the expense of objectivity, I respect the passion & love you have for your alma mater. It is admirable. My pt was that there are many things at play here, that are beyond the university's control, and its not simply a situation of picking itself up from its bootstraps and raising standards. The university can do that relative to the last 20 yrs, and the on-field results can still be more or less similar. Since the days that UM last banged hot women, women in general have become a lot more hypergamous & feminist, and are seeking the highest value men. Solid looks, net worth, and charisma are no longer enough if you want to take the most beautiful ones home. To take these women for a ride you're going to have to be elite in every aspect, and be wiling to pay big to play. There was a time when having access to the best trainer & plastic surgeon was enough to level the playing field. That's no longer the case.

As fans the least we can do is target our frustration & ire at the right place. If any banners ever get flown, they shouldn't be flying over the Hecht. They should be flying over the NCAA offices non-stop, because they more than anyone else are most culpable in this situation.
