Coach D'onofrio and Recruiting.... what is he doing?

So Al Golden said that for him one of the characteristics of a good coach is to also be a good recruiter..... mmmkay

Who has D'onofrio recruited and gotten to Miami w/o the help of his buddy Al Golden?.... Thurston Armbrister is the only one i can think of.

That's a problem.

Compare that to FSU's D. Coordinator Jeremy Pruitt....

Last year he gets the job late in recruiting season and lands for FSU 5 star Jalen Ramsey, 4 star Demarcus Walker, 4 star Marquez White (DB), and Nate Andrews (DB) ASAP.

This year Jeremy Pruitt has landed elite LBs Jacob Pugh and Kain Daub, and also 4 star safety Trey Marshall along w/ a few others.

Also he's going after 5 stars Adoree Jackson, Marlon Humphrey, and Tony Brown to go along w/ pretty much one elite recruit after the other from Alabama, FL, GA, TN, MS, and i dont care to keep naming.

Miami has to compete w/ this on top of who they already have like Odell Haggins.... our assistant coaches can recruit, AL Golden can recruit, D'onofrio is a big weak link..... thoughts?

I have no clue who he's recruited/recruiting. I don't know his region, and I don't know which SoFla high schools he recruits.

I know we're working on a top 5 class with some big fish still left to grab.

That's all that really matters.
 
Stars don't matter and Jethro is the weak link. He and Jertho were recruiting Lammons and Clark IIRC. He didn't do much recruiting until this year.

naw i'm not finding any reason his terrible philosophy and 3rd/4th down conversion defense speaks for themselves.... as well as his inability to recruit.

Stars do matter.... not all the time but more then half the time. But Pruitt has recruited more then just the "elite" players Nate Andrews was a 3 star but he's at FSU making plays.

also Jethro has actually gotten some guys on this team this year.... Dalvon Stuckey and Trent Harris, recruiting Anthony Moten.

It's not about 5 stars, i'm jus saying D'onofrio doesnt help w/ recruiting at all.
 
So D'onofrio doesnt deserve any criticism even though he's been on the job since Al Golden.... dont act *** now.

it's ok to jump on James Coley but D'onofrio isnt fair game b/c he's Al Golden's best friend. lol hilarious.
 
Why would our current defensive coaches commit to a DC they don't like? I mean we're bringing in Thomas, Harris, Jackson and Smith who are all studs. Owens and Young at LB is studs. I'm not sure what else you expect Coach D to do. IMO

IIRC Coach D had a lot to do with Quan Muhammed coming to Miami.

Ofrio recruited lammons for 4 years and couldn't reel him in. That's a microcosm of his career as a recruiter.

position coaches typically build the best relationships with recruits as they spend the most time with them

/I'm pretty sure Dorito went with Golden to close on AQM
 
Al Golden is the reason AQM is here.... D'onofrio was just the side kick b/c kids do want to know who their coordinator is.

well he side kicks w/ Al Golden in the New Jersey area.... he's a liability. Barrow can close, Jethro finally closed this class, Williams can close, we all know Al Golden and James Coley are closers, Carrol can close, everybody except D'onofrio.

This isnt a D'onofrio "bashing" thread, it's a he deserves more criticism over any coach on this team thread.

Where are all these Coach D threads you all keep crying about anyway? Every bashing thread that i've seen has been about Stephen Morris and James Coley. lol
