I for one cannot hide my exuberance for the kid. He made it academically into UM and works hard. Now, if he had a problem holding the ball then it's the staff JOB to correct and make him into a productive player for UM. If that's not being done then Al and the coaches are INDICTING THEMSELVES as poor teachers of basic skills. This is a fundamental issue to hold on to the ball. The kid is strong, runs tough, punishes defenders, and we need a baller like him in the 3rd and especially fourth quarters to finish the game. It's incredibly OBVIOUS this is what UM is lacking and Chocolate can easily provide this. Not putting him in the game just proves one more thing, Al can't develop and make players better which is ESSENTIAL at the college level! Does it take 1.5 years to teach a kid how to hold on to the ball when you're making $2.7 million per year? Coley should be held responsible too to the highest level.

Where is there proof that he runs tough, punishes people, and is a baller? Sounds like you are describing yearby from saturday. "Chocolate" has played very minimally against no competition. Not saying he isnt one day capable, but theres a reason he was our 4th string running back and i cant figure out why everyone continues to claim he is a beast without doing anything.

Really, well the games he has played which is MANY he has MOST definitely showed all those charateristics and then some. Joe Yearby is an excellent player but does not possess the physical skills to punish defenders. Next thing you're going to tell me is that we don't miss Gus and we know how to close.

I'm with you. I don't understand why people want Choc to take carries from Yearb and Walton this year. Choc should be a decent running back down the road, but as long and Yearb and Walton are healthy, I want Choc getting minimal carries.

Man shut up an stop complaining

Sorry its on him if he fumbles. Lack of focus can cause fumbles because you dont tuck it tight or fail to deflect a direct hit on a ball.

People on this board talk from emotion not facts

Would it really kill you to just type the Y?

Chocolate runs straight up. Yearby lowers his shoulder and runs into people. But ok coach

The short answer? Depth. Walton and Yearby are going to get banged up this year. Had Gus been healthy, would you make the same arguement about Walton? Generally speaking, you play 3 RBs in a season. I'd like to get Gray some token snaps in games just to shake the rust off or at the very least, get him in on STs.

Yearby is playing like an All American.

Walton is a freaking stud.

You're 3rd string RB does not play when the first two are this good.

It's not tee ball dude.

I'd be interested to see him return kicks. I am sure the coaches teach fundamentals as far as ball placement. Watch the way the two other guys carry the ball and then watch Gray. Kid carries the ball like its the playground. He is athletically all there, but they do not trust him in any kind of big place. Do you not recall his like three almost fumbles on consecutive runs in the first game of the season? Yes he has burst, but just like Waters as a wr. He needs a lot of polish for that to truly shine in a big game setting. If he were to get a lot of carries I can almost guarantee you he will fumble at some point..

Yep. Some guys never overcome the tendency to be loose with the ball. All of them get coached, but you can't carry the ball for them.

He has played against Famu, ark st, cincy, fau, and bethune cookman...1. I dont consider that many games. 2. The competition speaks for itself. Like i said i am not mocking "chocolate", i am just stating that he hasn't proven a thing. Yet people like you act like hes the 2nd coming of edge.

Yearby and Walton played rb their whole lives and their good at it. Choc is an athlete still learning the position. He played QB in high school. Its not that simple to just learn a new position and then take minutes from people who have excelled at that position for years. He can potentially be great, in due time...

The larger problem from the Nebraska game is that it should've been closed out midway through the 3rd. Then, we could've put in back-up players, such as Rosier to try....whatever QB run play it was supposed to be near the goal line and put in Gray and others as well.

I agree that Gray needs to be on the field - along with other players so that they can develop before they're needed in a game...

Gray has looked good and brings a different dynamic from Yearby and Walton. There are plenty of balls to be able to get Gray some carries each game - and I'm a proponent of having him get some carries each game.....

I look forward to having these 3 plus Edwards and Homer on the team next year. 5 solid backs is about what we should have every year. In Miami, there's no reason to have fewer than this each and every year....

I can come up with hundreds of reasons to criticize the staff; Failure to give Trayone burn when we have Yearby and Walton is definitely not one of them.

Would have been nice to see Choc get a few carries to get him used to playing vs the big boys. Anyone here that doesn't think one of the 2 RBs aren't going to need a break (injuries or just tired) isn't being realistic. It's a long season and the cupcakes are over, so let's get some player development happening so that we don't **** the bed when the inevitable happens.

Reverse logic, Why should you need to be taught by someone who makes 2.7 million dollars to hold onto a ball when you've already been taught fundamentals since kindergarten.
