Lyle is gone. But sheesh if Marty leaves too, yes its pretty thin. Winning football player and I hope we retain them.He could be a feature back somewhere. I’d like to see us get an insurance policy for if/when Lyle leaves. CWH could leave also. We may be thin there

I was just watching Michael Irvin’s YouTube video, and he went over to the Rb area to celebrate Marty’s TD. Lyle was the only RB I didn’t see there celebrating. Could have just be a coincidenceI could have sworn he was on the sideline for the FIesta Bowl.
Not sure about that. He’s about as solid as they come outside the elite tier running backs. Very hard to find.Marty is solid but ultimately replaceable.
Yea Lyle's contact balance at this level isn't like he was in HS, so that did not translate to college. We need a big fast back. Cant go next season with Pringle and Fletch cause of Pringles pass blocking. We need anotherHaven't heard anything on Chamar but have heard buzz about Lyle
Bottom line is that the staff has grossly underutilized Marty Brown in the post season. Fletcher getting essentially every single rep in two consecutive playoff games was dumb. Brown did not touch the field against TAMU, and only got in on the last drive against Ohio State. He finally got some quality burn against Ole Miss but we had 80+ offensive snaps. The kid was the feature back on that North Dakota State team that won the FCS title last year. He understands playoff football.
He's been productive all year, even when we were playing exclusively Caveman Ball. Marty Brown is like accrued vacation time under Florida law....Use it or lose it.
He needs more touches in the screen passing gameMarty is solid but ultimately replaceable.
So what you're saying is Brown be fresh for Indiana.
The only thing dumb is your post. Fletcher averaged a first down every time he touched the ball against A&M and has averaged 131 yds/game in the postseason. Why on earth would you reduce his carries just to satisfy another player?
He's not as good as Fletcher. Why would he play more?
Luckily the playoffs are stretched out. This will be Fletcher's fourth game in 30 days and that's after a nearly month-long break before the playoffs.(Quoting CreativeCane for reference)
HR1 - The answer to your question is so Fletcher will be fresh for Indiana. We rode him hard over the past 3 games. It seems to have worked out from a health standpoint, but that doesnt change the fact that we have another high level back on the roster (and a competent freshman, but he's not part of this discussion).
Another aspect is.... this thread. We all seem concerned about losing Brown after the season, even more so if Fletcher decides to come out (not a done deal there). Again, I was blown away that Brown didnt touch the field at TAMU and only came into the game when Fletcher checked himself out after a minor ding late in the Ohio State game.
We corrected it during the Ole Miss game but we ran a bajillion plays. I think my point stands. Gotta use him or lose him. That's why we're having this discussion. BTW - Brown has two years of eligibility after this season.
I can see wanting to be the lead back - certainly his right. But man he is putting out engouh tape, without getting the ware and tear of a lead back. Either way he's gonna be drafted 2nd-3rd day so not sure the point. But its his right. He has earned the privilege to enter the portal. I have no issues with him going somewhere to be the featured back.
I would be sad he left but he earned the right to make more money.
Please. You guys need to stop putting names only on threads like this. And if it’s going on the portal board you need to indicate in the title that they are not in the portal.Cornhuskers seem confident that he enters the portal. Any traction there?
He didnt play AT ALL against TAMU and only came into the Ohio State game when Fletcher checked himself out with a minor ding late in the 4th quarter. Otherwise he wouldn't have played at all.
Playing only one running back is poor roster management. It may end up working out for us, but its not like Brown is not worthy of the reps. He's a solid inside runner, a very good blocker, has better hands than any other running back and has experience in a playoff run.
Also, this thread is why. We could end up losing him due to lack of use in the post season. If Fletcher goes to the NFL, we'll see how it all plays out.
