I think I was the first person on this site to mention Mateer as a possible Cam Ward replacement way back at the beginning of last season (I live in WSU Cougar country and people were raving about him). Was hoping the Ward connection would pay off for us, but Oklahoma hiring his OC was too much to overcome. Mateer is the ONLY qb in cfb I would have wanted over Beck because he’s more dynamic. That said, I think Beck might be a better fit in Dawsons system since he executes the play calls to perfection.

If we win he’ll be in the conversation but Smith is the best player in college football on the #1 ranked team. I don’t think Beck is flashy enough to get attention.
