Caneville - Spring Practice Day 5 -- Canton on Greentree Practice Field

This program has such a weird, different vibe to it compared to one year ago. Most of the assistant coaches answer questions with a roughed up voice because they have screamed in practice so much. The intensity is insane, the physical play is noteworthy and everyone seems to be incredibly hungry. I love the receiver and defensive back drills, they are designed to teach pad level and footwork at a simple, yet very effective way. Staying low during your break, getting in and out of your route controlled, but explosive in your movement. Shadowing your receivers movement, when to press and jam, how to work the sideline.

Every time I watch these videos, I just get a very secure feeling about this team.

At the 13 minute mark you can see HOF Ed Reed walking the field coaching up the DBs and at the same time in the background you can see HOF Jason Taylor coaching up the DEs.

I don't believe you'll get that imagery at any other school.

I'd like to not have video evidence of non-assistants doing "gray area" coaching though

What separates Miami and usc from the pack is that our former players are Coming back to the area anyways cause they either live here or vacation here. How often is an inner city guy who made the league and has a boatload of money going back to Athens or Tuscaloosa or Gainesville? The answer is they’re not. We need to harness this energy. Sounds like Mario is doing it. The former coaches thing is just a bonus.

No inner city guy with cash is going back to redneckville for fun

we now have real coaching and leadership. I have no animus towards Manny, but this is why you simply can't have a first-time head coaching leading this program. Maybe one day at his next head coaching gig he'll be THAT guy, but he wasn't going to be in 2019.

Miami got Mario at the perfect time...
