Had somewhat forgotten how great Wooga played to start the game. He was really the one who set the entire tone. And that pass at 50 seconds in was just filth.

But he was aggressive, got downhill and followed his own miss to make it 2-0. Pack makes a nice floater to make it 4-0. Then Wooga gets a hard drive to the rim (and got fouled that they didn't call) to make it 6-0 then gets downhill again with a gorgeous pass to Omier to make it 8-0 and we were off. He came to play last night, big time.

I watched with an IU fan and he audibly groaned when Wooga got hurt. He was already counting the game as over and said, “please don’t be hurt, y’all need him to beat Houston.” Guy was everywhere early and was impactful all game.

He’s been big the last month and a half. His improved play has helped overcome the moments were Peck and Wong just disappear.

Yeah, I agree completely, and even more, go back to the middle of last year, then the end, then the beginning of this year, and then now.

Steady, solid improvement in every area. He's more confident, he's a much better shooter than he was, he's a better finisher around the rim, he's got a lot better vision. Last year, he was just a hyper athletic kid who really wasn't polished in any area other than perimeter defense. He is WAY better now than he was earlier in the season and a totally different player than he was last year.

Coaching and hard work matter.
 
Wooga has a chance to really ease the loss of Miller next year. Obviously two different positions but from a nuts and bolts do a bit of everything type roll.

A staff that can actually develop players, who woulda thunk it?

Wooga still has a lot of room to improve, especially as a ball handler, but it's been fun to watch him go from a green freshman to what he is now. Hopefully some of this year's freshmen (especially Casey and Watson) can show similar improvement.
