Canes Media Monday 9-12-22 Mario, Gattis and Steele

Look man, I get that it didn’t look good for stretches last Saturday, but if you listen to these interviews and come away not thinking that this staff is much better equipped to deal with our weaknesses and build week to week, I’m not sure what to tell you. I really hope we come out aggressive and take the game to A&M. A win in that game could do wonders for further buy in across the whole program.

Look at the bright-side and remember the prior years when the coaches held their post-practice conference outdoors next to some guy who always decided to turn on the lawn mower.
I’m still getting used to them being indoors. Every time I see them behind the lectern I think, “Oooo something special must be happening today.”

But for a few penalties, we score 40 and have 500 yards of offense. Look it any way you want but if that is what we do when our QB is “off”, we are in pretty good shape.
And before everyone starts blaming the OC for TVD’s issues, are you blaming Bama’s OC for the fact that Bryce had to single handedly win that game with runs and spins and a miracle save on a safety?
Players have bad games. Did we blame Coker or Chud for some of the stinkers Dorsey had? He was terrible against BC in 2001 and almost cost us a shot at an NC but for the Reed/Walters/Rumph play. He was bad against FSU in 2002 for most of the game until the 4th quarter. Players, even good players, have mediocre games.

For those wondering if we will finally start seeing more over the top routes.

Fairly easy comprehending questions being asked of Mario. His no BS approach is a breath of fresh air for fans, and only hope the players also see it as such. His message to Avantae is rather simple:
We respect and love you, brother. But don't act out and go all drama on social media. Don't pout and create a distraction. If not happy with playing time, then compete and prove you deserve it. And if you don't get the message, then good luck in your future endeavors.

well we know now coker was trash and his offenses held us back imo esp Brock Berlin

"3 or 4 yards win games"- Gattis

For those wondering if we will finally start seeing more over the top routes.

Last year with Lashlee and Tyler we threw the ball 34 times or less in 5 of 9 games. In the Southern Miss game we threw 30 times. The 9.7 yards per pass attempt this year is greater than the average of 9.0 from last year.

Maybe we aren't going to throw the ball a ton or go deep but so far the overreaction on this board is not backed up by stats. Especially since Tyler had a pretty bad game last week and Bethune literally could not stop the run. The next couple weeks are going to tell you everything you need to know.

It's also important to remember that it took Tyler a couple games to actually get going last year.

When he talked about the App St game one thing he highlighted was time of possession which was lopsided towards App St.

That and the 3-4 yards wins games tells me his goal is to control clock and emphasize the run.

On the positive side this should benefit our defense that can rest and keeps the other side’s defense on the field longer and wears them down.

On the negative side whether we can do this against the elite teams that are both athletic and deep remains to be seen.

Cristobal unveiled a jumbo package in the 2nd half when the offense was stalling. This is going to be our mindset on offense like it or not.

I can’t argue with success. As long as it produces wins it’s fine with me because that’s more exciting than a high octane offense that ends up losing 45 to 42 type games. Just win baby.

You aren’t allowed to bring stats or facts to this board. Only post based emotions and feelings here, buddy.
