...not come out of the gate as the toxic fanbase that we're so good at being? Let's give this thing a chance to unfold and as fans, give it a chance to succeed before we burn it to the ground.
At the end of the day, no matter what all of us armchair experts think, we really don't know what the **** we're talking about. What we DO know about Manny is that he's had a long career as a high-level defensive coordinator and has done nothing but improve, improve, improve.
Sure, he's not perfect. Sure, we struggled against teams that ran it down our throats. But by and large, we've fielded elite defenses under Diaz, and he's proven that he knows how to adapt.
Being able to adapt means that he isn't married to anything - he's willing to be wrong. That's a quality that the last two coaches absolutely did not possess. Willing to be wrong and adapt leads to success.
Manny is a young guy, he's high energy and hungry as ****, he knows what we've been lacking here at Miami for years now, he watched Richt field a ****** offense and I highly doubt he just wants to roll out an equally ****** offense.
I don't know what's going to happen, but I'm cautiously optimistic. It was a quick hire, but that doesn't mean it was wrong. I, for one, am going to support our new coach until he proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that he's not the guy for the job. He may kill it here, he may not. But for the love of God, let's try to be positive and supportive for a change.
Welcome back, Coach Diaz.
