Can Jai Lucas succeed

Great commentary regarding Jai's progression as a player and now a HC. I believe he is surrounding himself with top quality assistance coaches, and players. We are going to have to take a wait and see approach on how he puts it all together for the season, but I certainly love the way we are trending.
 
Theoretically, any coach can succeed. That said, the success probability of a first time HC at a program like Miami isn't great. Lucas will need to learn on the job, and that's a luxury he really won't have at a place like Miami. I wish him well, but a lot of the things he will learn the hard way, likely should have been learned at a midmajor.
 
We have the makings of a nice roster, but not anything remotely close to a dominant roster. And not a roster that will overcome coaching deficiencies (which are to be expected from a first time HC).
 
Depends on how you define success..
..probably middle of ACC for a couple of years, is what I see

Of course he can succeed. Nobody has ever argued that he can't succeed. He can also fail, which I'm praying that he doesn't.

There were also quite a few other head coaches who could have succeeded with the amount of NIL money that is being afforded to Jai.

All of these things can be true, and people can have mixed feelings.

But the BlowJai Committee wants to obliterate any valid concerns or reservations and convince us all that everything will be 100% perfect and successful no matter what.

In basketball is there another busy portal entry period? Like after summer training camps or something?
 
He's saying the right things and he's the recruiting dynamo we thought that he was. Winning basketball games is a different animal though. He's coaching against experienced coaches.

Can he win? Sure. But i wouldn't bet the rent he's going to set the ACC on fire in year 1.

There could be a degree of fun watching a young coach grow as long as it doesn't take too long.


Middle of the pack. .500 in the ACC in year 1 would be pretty good I think.

I have to agree; a .500 record next year looks likely. While I'm excited about the players we've brought in, the current team resembles the last two years more overall IMO.
