Putting in MY OWN early prediction for Miami to land 2026 five-star small forward Caleb Gaskins

Long way to go in his recruitment, but I feel confident in where Miami is as of right now.
Trintonnnnn!!! Gotta make the Breezey Ball edit graphic to post

Columbus just knocked off Georgia powerhouse, Wheeler HS up in Lake Point. I know it's summer basketball but Columbus looked pretty good. Caleb Gaskins was hands down the best player on the floor. Will need to add some stuff to his game for the next level, particularly on the offensive end. Love his motor and how hard he competes.

Told y'all a few months back that it was gonna be Miami. Just a matter of when, not if.

There seems to be a covert battle brewing for Gaskins. All indications was it would be Miami but in a small plot twist his AAU coach/director doesn’t seem to want it that way. A&M is making a run at him. Buckle up!

Moran has zero business being on this staff if he can’t wrap this up

Going to play hoops in college station is as sad of a tale as one can dream up as a potential one and done 5 star.

Not necessarily true. Even though local ties may have been the biggest reason for initially being hired, Moran is proving to be more vital and has quickly become an intregal part of this staff. I do agree that not getting Gaskins on board would be disappointing, but early indications are he's more than just a former HS coach with local ties.

That's great. That spot should have went to a sitting college assistant but I was willing to look the other way given the Gaskins ties.

Per the TAMU board. They just got crstyal ballled for Irving. Looking good

On Josh Irving, I've maintained for weeks that I see a decision coming shortly after he wraps up his official visits, and after visiting Kentucky a few weeks ago, it's looking like that decision will come this week. He's picking between a top three of Texas A&M, Kentucky, and Louisville. I believe McMillan and his staff have positioned themselves in a good spot for Irving, making him their top priority at the center position in this class. I've been on record saying that A&M has been the leader or one of the leaders for Irving since the summer, being right there with Kentucky and Mark Pope, and I still feel confident saying that now. After talking with some sources, I'd probably lean Texas A&M 60/40 at this moment, but things could still change between now and his commitment.

On Caleb Gaskins, he's been projected to land at Miami in his hometown for a while, but the Aggies have done a ton of work with his official visit and multiple in-home visits to try to get him out to Texas. At this moment, it looks like the Aggies are ahead of both Florida and Ole Miss, but still behind the Canes. Gaskins is a super talented five star, who is likely a one and done player, but it's going to take more work if they want to pull him away from Miami.

At the end of the day, they won't take both Irving and Gaskins in this class. They are looking for just one big, and while Gaskins is the higher rated overall player, Irving might fit what they want to do just a little bit better with his three point shooting, which is why you've seen them prioritize Irving as much as any player in this class. If they miss on Irving, you could see them shift all their focus onto Gaskins, but landing Irving at A&M would likely mean they back off on Gaskins. They could also not land either and shift their focus to an experienced big in the portal, but I believe the first action in the chain reaction of what they do at the forward / center position is going to hinge on Irving's decision first.
