The bye week. In 2017 the hurricane ruined our schedule where the time off from the hurricane was turnt into the bye week. We ended up playing 11 weeks in a row. That is very tough and the injuries piled up. I think that should help us this year. I think the hurricane also messed up a Thursday game we had against GT which can serve like a second bye week coming off it. It is how we get extra time to prepare for FSU in addition to the regular bye week before BC.

I know everyone like to think everything is a excuse but i think this will help us this year.

As a fan of most of what Richt has done since he's been here it pains me to say this, but this staff has not shown any ability to be able to take advantage of extra time to prepare. We got blew out by Clemson with an extra week to get ready, we had several weeks to prepare for Wisconsin, and we had an entire off season to prepare a team to play LSU.

Yep and he does the same thing Golden did by not utilizing all practices and prep time. He gives them days off for practicing hard, he just takes them bowling instead of dodgeball. We also missed the full amount of days allowed before the bowl game and fall practices.

When did we get this extra week to prepare for Clemson?

My post was talking about the physical grind of playing 11 weeks in a row......that includes Clemson at the end of said 11 weeks

I was referring to Wisconsin, hence the bowl game. You don't remember Richt not utilizing all of the practice opportunities? As for Clemson, they were just better than us, a lot better. Do I think playing 11 straight weeks and having key injuries affected us? Sure but they would've still beat us by a few TDs

My bad. I'm used to the Army/Navy game being all alone on the last Saturday of the season, and Championship Week the following week. I guess it was different last season.

Any bye week is a huge plus just the rest alone is priceless

Not having one last week def contributed to our injuries last year

Let's not forget that we played Clemson and Wisconsin without our #1 WR,RB AND TE!!!!!Hard to compete when your best players are on the bench.

I just laugh at the Richt cult that runs around down voting anything said negative about Lord Richt.

They’re just as aggravating as the “ fire everyone crew”.

Loose cannon got a down vote and he literally never says anything negative about the staff.

Richt is not without approach , especially after the last few years at Uga. He was fired for a reason , so let’s quick acting like he can’t be questioned about anything. Bunch of weirdos

I see I got a new stan running around disliking my posts. I see ya bro.

Bye weeks are crucial for any team. I agree, 11 straight weeks took its toll on the team. The toledo game was the first game in awhile that i thought we actually looked prepared. For long stretches in that game we shut them down on defense and moved the ball efficiently on offense throughout the 2nd half. Its slowly getting better, but I think we are still two years away from competing with the big boys. Hopefully we can close the talent gap over these next couple of seasons.

Not having a bye week last year was huge. It showed during the Virginia game we were spent. We beat them on talent in the 2nd half, just didn't have the juice and will power of a more senior, talented, and deeper team for Pitt the next week. Wisconsin and LSU was on our QB play, period, although I agree about our best WR/TE being out were factors against UW. Both Wisconsin and LSU also did not turn the ball over while we did and they hit all their field goal attempts while we did not. Lose the turnover battle, lose the field position battle (Feagles), don't hit the FG's, you wont win football games against decent opponents, much less the more talented ones.

I think its next season actually. Providing that the LBs remain, which i think they will. Our secondary will be younger but i think every player that comes in the secondary will be better eventually than the ones thethey replaced. Willis will be a huge miss tho. Our offense gets exponentially better with whomever takes over from Rosier

I agree that the team started to look worn out around the Virginia game. Clemson, we just lost to a better team and that's that, but I think we would have at least made it a better game if the players hadn't endured 11 straight weeks of football.
