Celebration is unbeaten under Coach Joel Smeenge in two exhibitions and now the Storm will see if they can bring their new coach another victory when it counts, during the regular-season opener Friday against Gulliver Prep at ESPN Wide World of Sports.
Kickoff is 8 p.m.
This will be the first of five Storm “home” games that will be played off campus while Bushey Stadium gets new field turf.
The Storm won their Kickoff Classic at Colonial, 32-22, last week. That followed May’s spring game win at Haines City.
Storm quarterback Chris Knight was on target last week, hitting 10-of-13 passes for 165 yards and three touchdowns.
Knight also led the team in rushing with 49 yards on five carries.
Antonio Franco (5-31) ran for a touchdown and Willie Boyd, Matt Demarino and Blaze Alldredge had TD receptions.
The Storm totaled 242 yards of offense.
This is the first meeting between Celebration and Gulliver Prep.
“Gulliver is good. Well coached. We have our work cut out,” Smeenge said.
