Saw this on another site ... found it interesting

Calvin Russell (6-5 195lbs): 15.61s in the 110m Hurdles, 5' 11.5'' in the High Jump and 18' 7'' in the Long Jump.

Israel Briggs (6-4.5 200lbs) : 11.42s in the 100m, 5' 10'' in the High Jump and 21' 10'' in the Long Jump (from sophmore year)

not trying to disparage ... but the physical traits are similar ... russell has the edge in competition ... but alot more similarities when you get down to it

Briggs is way more than 200 if russell is 195... like 230-240. Have you guys actually seen their photos recently?

Not impressed with HJ marks of either and Russell’s LJ is awful. Assume they did events on very limited basis.

No way Briggs is 240 unless the pic with Mario is an old one.

I was exaggerating with the weight haha but no way Russell is 5 lbs lighter than Briggs

The one picture of russell i can remember on his visit it looked like one of briggs legs could mask both of Russell's.

This. Very underwhelming- especially Russell.
I agree! That HJ mark would suggest he is not athletic. Probably can’t dunk a basketball at 6’5. For comparison Jalen Lott HJ mark is 6’10 as a sophomore and he is 6 feet tall.

Calvin Russel is a full time football and high level basketball player.n..ot sure where he even found the time to participate in a track event.( looks like he only did like one event this year) Dude doesnt take that serious as its the same time he was killing folks in 7 on 7 and Basketball.

Your wrong. lol

Yall dont have to start the cope from now.......

not coping ... i just pointed out the measurables and recorded track times through 247 ... if we being honest russell isn't a p4 d1 basketball player ... he's a fringe mid major guy ... he obviously has the edge over briggs ... just thought it was interesting comparison between the two

Should really go the basketball route imo, i know football is championed here and he prolly loves it the most but i think his future is brighter with hoops
really ... because he's a dime a dozen in terms of high major basketball ... honestly lopez has a better shot at being a high major d1 player than russell ...

while not as big time as it used to be, pangos his legitimate D1 talent and lopez fits in in terms of position skills that translate

Absolutely not. Lol. At 6’5 with his traits you can just be good in college and make the NFL…at 6’5 and in basketball (and he’s not an athletic freak although he’s a good athlete) and a decent jumper he wouldn’t even get a decent look by the NBA. And let’s also be honest..he’s not getting high level P5 offers from basketball schools outside of the schools doing the football program a favor by offering him. Hes good at basketball but let’s not get carried away.

there's a lack of awareness on how good d1 basketball players really are

Any basketball offers he has are probably linked to the football program. Looking at those clips it doesn’t show any basketball skills he has mastered. Kid is an average athlete from a basketball standpoint. However, he can use that height in football to body CBs. Hope we get him.

Makes sense that it’s a one off and no training or emphasis on LJ, so numbers are irrelevant. That said most decent HS athletes can roll out of bed and jump 18 ft.
