6'6" 265 OL from Daytona Beach Mainland. Rivals has an article on him (I don't subscribe so I don't know the details) saying that we're his leader.

The article has been on there for a couple days, so I thought I'd mention it.

There were some false reports of him committing to us a couple months ago.

Would be a good addition to go with Taylor....

Plus Mainland always seems to have some good players every year...

I think we close out the class with OL Brandon Walton of Seminole HS. Kid is 6'5" 280 with excellent strength and film. Very underrated but a legit stud.

40: 4.9
Shuttle: 4.8
Vertical: 29"
Bench: 380
Squat: 505

Appears to be very athletic and light on his feet on film. Kid should be a solid 4-star IMO but most likely won't
Be due to competition.

Recruiting roundup: 4-star DL likes Miami, hoops official visit breakdown
By Matt Porter Aug 28, 2015

A few notes on Hurricanes recruiting to kick off your weekend …

* Four-star defensive tackle Darius Whitfield (6-1, 268), from Mobile (Ala.) St. Paul’s High, told Canesport he plans to choose between UM, South Carolina, Missouri and Florida on Oct. 13. He wants to take an official visit to UM before then.

* Four-star wide receiver Freddie Swain will visit Tennessee Oct. 10 and Miami Oct. 17, Scout reported. Swain (6-0, 177), from Citra-North Marion High, is rated the No. 3 receiver in Florida. Florida and USC are reportedly contenders. His teammate, uncommitted three-star defensive end Jordan Woods, will accompany Swain to UM.

* Rivals analyst Rob Cassidy on recent UM commit Jawaan Taylor, a three-star offensive lineman from Cocoa High: “They’ve got to like his power. That’s what pops off the page when you see him, his upper-body strength … he carries some bad weight, but the raw tools are there and he moves his feet well for someone 330 pounds.” Cassidy predicted a redshirt season as a freshman for Taylor, so Miami can “reshape him.”

* The Hurricanes are the frontrunner to land three-star offensive tackle Brandon Walton, of Seminole High, according to Canesport. Walton (6-5, 285) said he likes Miami more than Vanderbilt, one other school he’ll visit this fall. Walton’s other major-conference offer is from Kentucky.

* UM safety commit James Pierre said UNC is making a run at him. He told Canesport the Hurricanes are “definitely at the top” but there’s a “small chance” he could flip to the Tar Heels. Pierre (6-2, 170), a three-star recruit, said North Carolina State, West Virginia and Bowling Green are recruiting him the hardest, aside from UM.

* Canesport reported UM is working hard to flip Eddy Pineiro, one of the top kickers in the nation. Pineiro (6-1, 180), from North Miami Beach, is an Alabama commit. He attends ASA College Miami, where he has hit from as far as 73 yards in training sessions. He told Canesport his family is “all UM fans,” but he grew up rooting for the Crimson Tide.

* Hoops news: three of the Hurricanes’ top targets in the 2016 class set their official visit dates to Miami. Tampa Prep’s Juwan Durham (6-9, 200), the No. 38 player in the class and ninth among power forwards by ESPN, will visit Sept. 18. Miami Norland standout Dewan Huell (6-9, 230), ranked 21st nationally and No. 5 among power forwards, arrives Oct. 2. Lima (Oh.) Senior High point guard Xavier Simpson (5-11), ranked 12th among point guards and 66th nationally, comes Oct. 10.

Well, good news about Walton. I hope we can get Swain and the kicker. And Whitfield if he's any good...

Actually the article up on Rivals discussing an OL that has Miami as his Top School is 2016 OT Brandon Walton from Seminole, Florida.

here is his profile with the linked story at the bottom of the profile as the first story.

The current staff, haven't had not one player sign with UF... Only player to sign with UF in the last 10yrs was A. Atkins(R.I.P). He signed under the previous head coach (Moranto).

OP The players name at Mainland HS you are trying to reference is 2016 OT Marcus Tatum whom back in the spring had a Top 3 of UF, Auburn, and Miami. With UF having the strongest odds to land him.

But now Arkansas is making a HUGE push for him.

Gators on top for OT Marcus Tatum
Luke Stampini - Aug 27, 2015

Daytona Beach (Fla.) Mainland offensive tackle Marcus Tatum is in contact with five schools on a regular basis. Those are the schools that sit at the top of his recruitment.

“The main ones still pushing for me hard are Florida, Arkansas, Tennessee, Miami and South Carolina,” Tatum told 247Sports’ Ryan Bartow. “Those are the ones I hear from on the daily.”

However, there is one school standing above the rest for the 6-foot-6, 260-pound Tatum and that’s the one just up the road from his home.

“Right now, I really like Florida,” Tatum said. “Really, it’s just the home feeling and I’m starting to build a good relationship with everybody on the staff. One of my favorite people on the staff is Coach [Chris] Rumph. He’s just hilarious. I like the way he coaches.”

Tatum also enjoys the way Gators offensive line coach Mike Summers coaching style.

“Coach Summers, he’s like a different style of coaching. I like the way he teaches his run blocking and things like that.”

Tatum is looking to finalize official visits to Arkansas and Tennessee in the near future. He is unsure if the Gators will get an official visit.

“Florida is down the street. I can go to a game, I don’t need to take an official visit. I can go to a game whenever.”

247Sports currently ranks Tatum as the nation’s No. 64 overall offensive tackle prospect in the 2016 class.

***an ( a top safety in 2017 from Mainland) is high on FSU. He's rated #2 in the country (Scout).
