Just got back from out of the country and watched the Virginia game.

Playcalling - horrendous. All the routes were open underneath. Virginia was begging us to throw it short and let our playmakers do something after the catch. Even the color announcer was calling for it. How in the world does Richt and Brown not see this and adjust? More importantly it sounded like that is the way Virginia always plays defense. So how do we come into the game with a game plan that plays to the strength of Virginia? Mind boggling to say the least. Richt needs to wake up if he wants this thing to work. The most frustrating play call of the day was the 4th and 1 on the 20. Virginia had 11 guys inside the tackles. A simple toss sweep to Homer and he would not only got the first but likely scores. Instead we get stuffed up the middle where 11 Virginia players were waiting. This is the example of Richt just lining up and deciding our players are better then the opponent and we do not need to out scheme them.

Perry - First INT was a poor decision. But Harley was asleep on the play. He probably could have made a play on the ball. If nothing else he should have played defender. You have to help a young QB out. The second INT was just bad. He panicked and threw into zone coverage. Let's see what his mental make up is after getting benched.

OL - Did not come to play. All the arm chair QB's questioning why Scaife did not start the season as a starter see why. He is young, made too many mistakes and flat out got beat on several plays. Mahoney got abused like I have never seen on both the sack and the Rosier INT. Just completely blown up causing two very negative plays. This line just does not bring it week in and week out. Until that happens we will never be elite. Play calling did not help the situation, but at some point you have to man up.

MJ - Man you just can't do that anymore. These guys need to understand you are hurting the team if you head hunt.

Homer - Very good game but my did he get run down. That Virginia safety just walked him down like Homer was in quick sand. He scores there it could have been a different game. My thing is why not try a Reggie Bush type move and hit the breaks when you know you are getting walked down?

#94 - Simply the worst penalty I have seen since Waters in the snow bowl. He should be suspended for next game for that garbage. If not for that Virginia has to kick a field goal with a shaky kicker. Even if he makes it we have 2 minutes to score a TD. 94 just handed them the game just like that. Why was no one in his face!! Where is the accountability? Today I watched Dabo lose it on a TE who made a critical false start. Here we have a guy who literally just lost us the game and know one was in his face. Get out out of town with that type of passive coaching!

Bubba - Like what I see as a kicker. He will be a good one. But my goodness what was he doing on the onside kick. As he was lined up I was literally thinking that with the angle he was taking there was no way the ball would go 10 yards. He was basically lined up to kick it completely parallel. Once again Special Team hoses us.

Coaching - Going for it on 4th and goal when your OL is not playing well. Onside kick when your defense is playing lights out. Not challenging the lateral play that looked like a backwards pass. Not holding players accountable. I mean we flat out got outcoached by a guy named Bronco.

What a poor performance. We could have won that game by 14 points just by playing an average game. We literally did everything to lose the game and Virginia played their best game and looked like a below average team doing it. That Virginia QB was complete trash. The Defense is really the only unit that showed up and it is sad they are having to carry this team with an offense that is garbage at this point. Richt better do something extraordinary in this bye week to get this offense back on track. I thought these Golden type losses were a thing of the past. Man what an embarrassment.

Agree with the OP on most things. But two things:

1) MJ didn't target. That was a bull**** call. The announcer said MJ "launched" but he didn't.
2) Scaife has higher upside at tackle than Donaldson, that's why fans were clamoring for it.

The entire O-line didn't come to play though.

You are right, he did not deserve to be kicked out. But after Bandy getting tossed I would think they would ease up. But it is a violent game and I understand it his hard to deprogram that quickly.

Excellent Recap! But you call out 94 (totally deserves it!) WHAT about #9 who took a cheap shot at #77 which caused the whole mess at the end! He has had a great season Willis But he acted like an *** on that play!!!!

What play was that? I turned it off after the personal foul on 94.

It was the same play watch it again you'll See what a dumb play Willis made! Instead of celebrating the stop he hits #77 from behind!

Even the Virginia fans in my section were surprised he got thrown out, complete trash call.
