as coined by our guy Bruce Feldman.

Notre Dame's past three games v. USC v. NC State v. Wake. That's a grind, even if the USC game was a blow out. NC State incredibly physical. Wake, too, a physical defense. In the second half of the Wake game, they started to show the wear with Josh Adams leaving the game (for 'weariness'), Brandon Wimbush didn't play the full game and has an injury to his left hand. Wake Forest was more successful on 3rd down this year against Notre Dame then any team since Michigan State early in the year and ran up a season high yardage total against the Notre Dame defense.

Now they take a long road trip to Miami in a night game against a defense will beat your QB up all game. Its a tough spot for them. Josh Adams can play and their OL is legit with several future high round NFL picks, especially on the left side, but this is a spot I wouldn't want to be in if the scenarios were reversed.

Also, the VaTech game couldn't have gone much better for Miami as VaTech didn't end up posing much of a physical or emotional toll for the team. Quite the opposite as the team is riding high.

Should go without saying, if Miami can convert on third downs, win the turnover battle, and minimize penalties, this game is setting up perfectly for Miami.
