Former Miami Hurricanes associate head coach Bill Courtney has accepted a new role as an assistant coach with the Temple Owls.
Courtney spent the past five seasons at Miami, serving alongside former Hurricanes head coach Jim Larrañaga. The two worked together for five years, guiding the Hurricanes to three NCAA Tournament appearances, including a memorable run to the 2023 Final Four.
After Larrañaga's departure and the arrival of new head coach Jai Lucas, much of the previous coaching staff was not retained, bringing Courtney's time in Miami to an end.
Courtney now joins head coach Adam Fisher at Temple, bringing more than 30 years of coaching experience to the Owls' program.
"We are thrilled to add Bill Courtney to our staff as an assistant coach," said Fisher. "Bill is a proven winner and one of the most respected coaches in our industry. His 30-plus years of experience, his ability to connect with people, and his tireless work ethic will make him a tremendous addition to our program. Bill has coached in Elite Eights and a Final Four—he knows what it takes to win. He's an outstanding communicator and a great role model who will help develop our student-athletes on and off the court."
Courtney previously served as the head coach at Cornell from 2010 to 2016.
Best of luck to the former Miami Hurricanes assistant as he begins this next chapter in his coaching career.
