The big fella has got to get in better shape this off season but he was going against the best DL in the country

Hopefully this was a learning experience for him...

I was encouraged by his play. He got whipped repeatedly but never quit battling. 2 years from now he will be the winner of those battles. It will help having the same players to each side of him again. Vaughn is a hard worker, he’s already lost over 30 pounds. Next season he will push for All ACC honors

You’re gonna get dogged for saying that about an All American.

He's a true freshman going up against a guy that could be the number 1 DT taken in the draft next year.

The kid is a true freshman for god sake, if 2 years from now things have not improved then complain.

A true freshman being called out for struggling against a future 1st rounder. Unbelievable.

No way in **** Vaughn regresses as badly as Darling. This staff won’t shuffle him all over and expect results. Both Darling and McDermott got screwed by Golden, so did Linder. Every single one NEEDED a redshirt and none got it. Two were overweight and lacked strength and the other was a 285 pound true freshman. Darling should’ve stayed at RT and Kc should’ve started at LT and never been moved around. They struggled due to playing too early and never getting to settle into a position and it ultimately stripped away their confidence and hurt their development.

And Hillery. We need as much competition as possible bc if TSL gets hurt we are either going to play both or have to rely on George Brown Jr... unless Donaldson can play RT if Scaife or Reed can get it done inside. I see Gauthier at LG next year with Gaynor playing C.

#55 will ball out next year & in the following years. He needs to continue working hard in the offseason & focus on S&C and he'll be awesome for us. This game could end up being the best thing to ever happen to him as he'll know just how much work he needs to put in to be elite. You have to given credit to Clemson's DT (who is likely a first round pick).

Or...maybe they were just overrated by this fan base and they were never that good to begin with?

Well obviously that’s a possibility, but you can’t pin that on the fans when both were Composite 4-stars, Kc in particular was rated very high.

My point is that it would be hard to envision them not having been better than they turned out, had things played out differently and they were not essentially set up to fail.
