We're all hoping the BOT and James make the best hire available but the one thing that we have to have is someone who really wants the job.... Herman will probably get a raise and extension for his expertise at Houston as well as Fuente at Memphis...They both have shown that they have an innovative approach toward the management of young players who buy into their methods, thus winning records..Will either select the "U" as their next stop or lean to more lucrative positions at the USC's, or possibly move on to the NFL, as several HC positions should be available at season's end... Schiano and Chud are former NFL material and probably will get offers to re-enter that organization at season's end as positions become available...It intrigues me that Pete Carroll and Nick Saban had a simuliar posts in the NFL before returning to the college scene and winning national championships...Possibly either Schiano , Chud or Wannstadt would consider a return to the "U". , We already know Butch Davis falls into the same category, and would really love a return to the "U"...Dennis Erickson is acting as OC and Asst Head Coach at Utah, and has more than helped in the UTE's climb in the polls...Pagano will probably be available by seasons end in the NFL...
The one item that I hope the BOT and James will consider is the overall record of the respective candidates, so we don't get another Golden or a coach like Cristobal who has that losing record and seems to be a self promoter, ala Golden...
The new coach needs to have an overwhelming desire to guide the "U" back from doormat to dominance on a national level... Speaking for myself, I only know of one coach who has patiently waited for the call to return and guide the "U" back to prominence.
I realize that this post and any post offered by my Bud's on Cane-Inside will not have any effect on the decision made by the BOT or AD's office toward the hire of a new Head Coach...We only hope you can learn from your past mistakes and bring a winner to the "U"
