The committee is actually pretty consistent in how they view teams as long as you understand that the SEC and Big Ten have a different set of unwritten rules based on them being viewed as vastly superior conferences to the other two.
1. The eye test doesn’t really matter for them, especially the SEC. They can look like crap and still get credit for victories.
2. They get a one loss mulligan compared to Big 12 and ACC teams. So, a 3 loss SEC team is viewed as equal to a 2 loss team from the ACC/Big 12, etc.
3. The SEC/Big Ten are judged by their wins, not their losses. It’s the exact opposite for the ACC/Big 12.
Bama this year is a perfect example of all three, and that’s why they will get in and we will not.
