Attrition''s effect on total roster

1. Tyson Campbell (CB)
2. Patrick Surtain (CB)
3. Michael Thompson or Keondre Coburn (DT's)....or both!
4. Andrew Chatfield (DE)
5. Marquez Ezzard (WR)
6. Jamarcus Chatman (DE/DT)
7. Dennis Briggs or Dorian Gerald (DE/DT's)

However as you can see since Shireffs announced he's transferring, we officially will not be back to 85 by next season (We'll be at 84). But again that doesn't really matter that much, and I'd expect all the guys that I list in Red to Transfer out between now and 2019. The guys listed in Blue are the ones that are most likely to Declare early for the draft.

yup, this is what i have... with 3 EE's being allowed to count towards 2017, so a max class of 28(including transfers).

only thing im wondering is there was a story about a 2018 long snapper Clay James, who was told that our current long snapper, Jordan Butler, is on scholarship, and once he graduates after the 2018 season, then Clay James would be given a scholarship.

The whole walk ons given scholarship thing is not really ever fully known. Like im sure we probably gave a couple walk ons scholarships this year, beacuse it doesn't hurt us to in any way, and it helps out a few kids. So im completely on board with that this yr. But as we get back to that 85 number next yr and now on, I'm against giving more than 1 walk on a scholarship, because they count towards both the 85 limit and the 25 initial counter limit if theyve never been given one before. Sorry but a ******* long snapper should not be on scholarship

LOL, i mean, im with ya, but that doesnt really answer the question...

it doesnt really affect our class size either way to be honest, we're able to take up to 28 either way. was just curious if Jordan Butler was or wasnt on schollie this upcoming year.

maybe pete or someone close to the team knows.
 
This class should sign no less than 28. It’s irresponsbile to have a roster under 80 scholarships. That’s where we’d be signing less than that. Plus there’s still some dead weight on the roster like Jones and Knowles. You know the staff regrets not sending out a few more LOIs prior to the early signing period.
 
The 25 hard limit on initial enrollees does have one other exception, if still in effect. I read a 2013 NCAA article a while back that stated the 25 limit expands to 28 if your total on scholarship is under the 85 limit.

we'd only need 3 more commits (which would be 23 total) to be at 80 scholarships.

Secondly being under 80 scholarships was not in any way the fault of the current staff.

you're right there is some dead weight on the roster, and they will all be gone by 2019's NSD. Again this wasn't a 1 offseason rebuild that Richt was doing.

The staff doesn't regret sending out more LOI's, because we only have 7-8 more spots left, depending on whatever the maximum is. That means 28 would be the ABSOLUTE maximum we can take, regardless what you think the minimum should be.

dont think thats a thing, unless its using the rule about EE's being applied to the previous class.

ex) if in This 2017-2018 season we had 82 on scholarship and our 2017 signing class had 22 initial counters, we would be able to apply 3 Early Enrolless to the 2017 initial counter limit which would mean we could take a class of 28 in the 2018 class.
