At this point are we expecting Lyle and brown to return?

we will know by Tuesday at the latest. Today is the deadline. Marty is returning IMO. He is a Canes fan. Lyle- I believe will depend on Merritt. D Brown- I hope he stays. We may need to move a CB to nickel which means more snaps for Brown.
The BC kid is likely the nickel but we also don’t have a ton of experienced safeties. Fitz will need to improve his run defense. We rotated 3 safeties most of the year due to minor injuries. Day maybe the 3rd next year or the BC kid is the 3rd and we find a nickel.

Don't forget Dunnigan at safety! Think he could be good enough to be in the rotation right away. Similar snaps to Bryce with a much different role.

Hopefully he gets and stays healthy. Didn’t he have a foot issue last year and now the turf toe.

Think Dunnigan is the long term solution at nickel. Who knows though, he maybe good enough to be the solution there next year.
I'm not sold on Pruitt covering a slot.
S - Fitz, Posyer, Thorton,Day, JJ, Redding
CB - Lucas, Brown, O'Connor, Antoine, OJ, Portis, Waters,Jennings, Wyman
Nickel- Ewald, someone from above, maybe Pruitt
I'm not a fan of Fitz in the box. Posyer hits but takes a beating. Thorton could be a Thomas replacement. JJ, Ewald, and Pruitt could be the Nickels.

If Pruitt can get the slot off course using his hands or his 80" wingspan in zone to make the QB think twice i believe he could be a disruptor and add an extra wrinkle to the defense. Blitzing and run support comes natural to him but if he can make slot/te hesitate for a second the DL will do their part getting to the QB i have no doubts.

Unless he improves a lot Pruitt is going to just be a sub package (passing) down LBer. No way he can fill Keionte’s shoes.
