Are These Miami Hurricanes For Real?

I can also acknowledge that losing does not make us “not forreal”. In the past, we have allowed losses to stack on top of each other after we’ve found success. Win or lose, we’ll know if this team is different based one how we respond in the following games. Bad teams don’t respond well to failure or success after big games. Having said that, I’m still riding with the Canes on Saturday

They are real enough to have 10 wins and a bowl, make the ACC title game, and be fun to watch.

Are they real as in playoff contenders? We’ll find out Saturday
This.
I could dig up alot of miserable *** posts from myself from last year but, objectively looking at manny in the offseason, alot of my faith was hinged on if he'd make the change with pEnos or if we were going to experience another Golden/Richt staph lobbying.

He made that change with 0 hesitation which was a breath of fresh air and now here we are..2019 is a memory at this point, regardless of what happens this weekend

My feelings, not that anyone has asked for them, but too f*cking bad, you are getting them anyway, is that whether we win or lose, this team and the culture appear to be finally going in the right direction. There is actually a light at the end of the tunnel. Continue to learn and grow every week and the rest will take care of itself.

Losses happen to good teams. Remember our 1983 team?

I want to see a win as much as everyone else, but I'd be a liar if I said I wouldn't settle for a hard fought loss and everyone clamoring for a rematch. Just go up there and don't get mauled like DBC in Alaska during the salmon run.

I do think we can beat them, but there is no shame in losing a close game. There IS shame in 52-10. Just ask FSU.

Go out there and show the world we belong in the discussion. That's what I want to see. Do that and we more than likely win out, putting ourselves in a position for a rematch.

Playoffs this year? Probably not. In 2-3 years? Yes. These things don't happen overnight. Folks forget it even took Dabo took 6 years to make it to a NC title game, and the Clemson team he took over was light years better than the team Diaz took over.

I think we'll find out on Saturday 17 October.

If we can bounce back from losing to Clemson by handling Pitt, then yeah we're for real.

If we fold again like so many other Miami teams of late, then it's all smoke and mirrors.

the real measure of that will be if we lose to Clemson. how do we respond the next week against Pitt? Do we do what weve done and start losing games we shouldnt? or do we move on and smash the rest of the schedule hoping for revenge in the ACCCG? Thats what i want to see can we handle losing finally or even winning?

I was so excited that year. Had we won the WI game like we should have, we might have a different reality right now. I am going to use all my excitement again this week. In part, from fear it will be my last chance until the next HC(history is a *****) and in part because I so want to win this game and have hope going forward that we could be in 1983 and heading to promised land behind a new different QB. Emotionally, I am all in on Clemson game.

Dream Scenario:

Miami beats Clemson Saturday.
Notre Dame beats Clemson South Bend, 11/7.

Miami (11-0) beats Notre Dame (11-0) in ACCCG.

UNC is the best team, after Clemson, on UM and ND’s schedule and could throw a monkey wrench in to this dream. UNC does not play Clemson.

Disagree slightly. What happens against Pitt after we beat Clemson just as or more important. Beat Clemson could be a big let down playing next game. Need to show we can handle success

Yeah, but DBC got into bears’ territory by trying to snag salmon out of rapidly flowing river. DBC should have known better than to compete with bears by trying to steal their food.

I think(hope) the difference is at the top and by that I mean King, I just don't see him allowing the team to "tank" after a loss like previous years.
IMO, we'll look back at his brief stint here as the guy that really got the culture turned around.
