I could be wrong but if i remember correctly Shalala was publicly backing him and then after USF, she canned him. I do remember it was kind of a surprise. Am I wrong? Is there hope?

God i love this program way too much. smh

A lot of people then were convinced he wasn't going anywhere either. Unfortunately, the difference between the two is Golden's stupid extension mucking things up.

There is no way they were able to meet, make the decision, and create a press release in the few hours following the loss.

They made the decision to fire him with four losses. Golden is already beyond that. No excuse not to fire him.

Golden should have been fired after the Nebraska game. Well actually, he should have been fired last January. Wait, he should have been gone after the Duke game last season.

shannon was extended in may of 2010; and then fired in december

The fact that Donna is retiring means Golden will not be fired. She is not going to burden her successor with a hire she made.

Honestly, I think that means the new prez may wanna clean house. Start fresh, ya know?

But ****, what are we gonna do about it, Huh? Just drink, and Cary on posting on these boards! Ain't a **** thing we can do.

does she want to hand this situation to her successor or try and fix it before she leaves?

i said it in the other thread -- it wouldnt be wise for donna to leave the new prez with a lame duck coach and constant speculation

Everyone likes to leave a legacy behind, if you were a boss that retired, would you want all your employees fired right after you left? It shows the boss was inept. I believe her retiring might help us. She might want to be remembered for bringing in the winning coach. Even she knows Al is Folden

I think we're all putting way too much on Donna. She's probably much less involved with athletics than these boards give her credit for. Kirby was the AD when Shannon was coach and he made the call. He even said afterwards that after the Virginia game he started looking for a change. The USF game was just the icing on the cake. This is in Blake's hands and it's his first chance to make his name as AD.

Who's that going to be? Like I keep on saying, it's not that easy for us to find great coaches. Why do you think we've been through so many? If somebody wins, he leaves. If somebody loses, he gets fired. Repeats over and over again.

I'm not sure this is such a prime job, unless they're paying a lot more than they used to.
