BRADENTON, Fla. -- The IMG 7v7 Southeast Regional Tournament is typically one of the best 7-on-7 events in the country each year. With elite talent on almost every team in attendance, this year was no different. With all the talent on hand there were several trends that stood out. Here’s a closer look at the top five trends from the weekend event.
Miami commits everywhere

It’s no secret that Miami is off to its best recruiting start of the Al Golden era in Coral Gables. The Hurricanes had several commitments playing this weekend. From quarterback Jack Allison on Team Tampa to wide receivers Sam Bruce and Dionte Mullins as well as defensive back Deion Jackson from South Florida Express, Miami was well represented at the events. All four commits mentioned had several memorable plays throughout the course of the two-day event. While Mullins, Allison and Jackson are solid commitments to the Hurricanes, Bruce mentioned that he was only about 60 percent committed to Miami.

Jack Allison continues to improve his stock

The 6-foot-5, 200-pound signal-caller was extremely impressive this weekend. Despite the windy conditions, Allison made great throw after great throw this weekend. His favorite target was Clemson commit T.J. Chase. The two players hooked up for several touchdown passes and numerous other completions. Allison's performance was so impressive, he earned an invite to play in the Under Armour All-America Game on Monday morning, just a day after the IMG event concluded. Allison is already ranked as the 105th prospect in the ESPN Junior 300, but that position could certainly improve with more performances like the one he had.

Florida and Notre Dame for Dwayne Haskins

Another top quarterback in attendance, Dwayne Haskins, much like Allison, shrugged off the windy conditions and made several strong throws throughout the course of the tournament. Haskins has been pretty open in his recruitment but for the first time, he mentioned two schools standing out to him.

"Florida and Notre Dame are definitely schools that are standing out right now for me just because I like the people and they are big-time programs and it's a great opportunity at those schools," Haskins said.

In addition to those two schools, Penn State, Rutgers and Alabama are also in serious contention for the No. 2-ranked quarterback prospect in the ESPN Junior 300.

ACC commits shine

The Miami commits were great this weekend, but a few other prospects committed to ACC schools also had strong tournaments. Chase, the 6-foot-2, 185-pound receiver from IMG Academy, made several impressive catches on his home field and was the main target for Team Tampa. The versatile Chase played inside in the slot position as well as on the outside and was the biggest vertical threat for his team. Chase was in Clemson gear on both days of the event and remains a strong Tigers commit.

Another ACC commit, safety Jamel Cook, who has been committed to Florida State since February, was one of the most physically imposing prospects to play at the event. With his long 6-foot-3 frame, Cook showed great range and made several great plays at safety as well as at receiver.

LSU trending in Sunshine State

LSU covets the state of Florida in recruiting, particularly South Florida. In fact, the Tigers have inked an ESPN 300 or 150 prospect in five of the last six classes. The reason is simple: When LSU inked four prospects from the Sunshine State in the 2008 class, one of them was Pro Bowl cornerback Patrick Peterson.

In the 2016 class, No. 20 Saivion Smith and No. 51 Feleipe' Franks are already in the fold and Les Miles and staff are in a good position to reel in No. 2-ranked corner Trayvon Mullen. The hunt for state of Florida talent doesn’t end at corner either. LSU is in the mix for a number of Dade and Broward skill players with an eye on the receiver position. The question has now become if LSU can sign four or five from the state as they did in 2008, which included one of the best from the area in recent memory.
