Anti Mark Richt crowd come in here for a good dose of reason

If I'm not mistaken there are 5 active head coaches who've won national titles (saban, fisher, stoops, miles, meyer). Stoop was almost fired a few years ago and lost his monicure of Big Game Bob. Les Miles was almost fired this year.

Outside of those 5 names you can say every other coach hasn't won the big one.

We got a really good proven coach who will have us in the hunt for championships every year.

Also the knock on Jimmy before he got here was he couldn't win big games.

Im all aboard..Wasnt a fan of the hire but hes my coach so I will support him. Now go hit the road and get recruiting!
 
I would have loved to have Butch but am happy that Richt is our HC.

As long as he surrounds himself with good asst coaches, he can have more success at the U than Georgia.

I am very hopeful that we will be in the playoffs by year 2.
 
I'm not a huge Richt fan but I'm willing to give him a shot. I'll take him over Butch every day of the week though.
 
Only three coaches in FBS history have won more games in their first 15 seasons as a head coach than Mark Richt.

Every head coach Miami has ever brought in had their most success at this school.

Jimmy, Erickson, even Golden. Every head coach we brought in won more at Miami than at any other school they coached. Richt is going to explode down here.
 
A miami fan would know miami won the 2001 championship with active HC coker.

Butch got Miami a title in 6 years(could have been 3 titles in 2000 and 2002). Richt got 0 titles in 14 years. Obviously butch is light years better than Richt. Richt will have his chance to prove himself.

people are so quickly to forget


they flew banners for butch, hated him. All of a sudden now he feels bad and our program stinks and hes a god again
 
what's also a cool bit of history is mark richt was part of schnellenberger's first recruiting class.

full circle fellas. i think richt wins a natty here. he came really close 3 times at uga. 2002, 2005, 2012. he just happened to be in a conference with bama, lsu, auburn and uf. that's ******* rough.

had injuries to key players (especially chubb) and qb development and recruiting caught up with him. can't believe they fired him. everyone with a pro style offense is going to have down years with the qb position.
 
The program is bigger than any coach.

Richt is a Cane. He deserves a fair shot. Let's see what he does with his staff, and the recruits. Would have loved Butch, of course.

I hold out the Ibis Olive Branch of Peace.

It would still be heavenly if Flake got accidentally hit by a truck.
 
Larry Coker is an active FBS coach whose has won a mythical national championship.

Not true at all.

I've watched probably 20+ UGA game over the last 5 years (buddies went there).

If we get the motivated Richt for 10 years ago then fine, if we get the guy I saw the last 3 years then it will be bad.

Either way I'll give him the chance he deserves.

With the thread title and the content of your post, you've zero idea of how Jimmy Johnson's hire was received or viewed. I was on campus at that time and the knock had absolutely nothing to do with big games. It was there was no knock at all, fans had zero clue wtf he was.

...I'm also SO ******* EXCITED RIGHT NOW.

Huge hire. Huge. Richt ain't gotta convince anybody of anything on the coordinator circuit or the recruiting trial. Just a quick, "Hi, I'm Mark Richt. I coach football real good and everyone loves me," will do.
