2026 Anthony "Tank" Jones 5* DE from Mobile, AL

I like you want that DT but you cant say stealing a WR from them doesnt count as a win because you prefer a DT.
If he was JJ type then I would be like ok fair trade. But DT is by far a bigger need and more important than a fast wr to be honest. And he’s a better player at his position than Spafford is at his

its not a trade dude. its some battles won some lost. in the past we lost them all.
Well he has to win more of them, it isn’t enough right now when you see those schools taking whoever they want. No excuses of we been bad for this long, he’s paid to fix it. We’ll fix it, if he wants to be known as an elite recruiter then recruit elites. I wouldn’t call him an elite recruiter but a tier below that.

so cantawell doesnt count? Wynn doesnt count? Spafford doesnt count? You only count loses on not wins. I agree we arent at that elite level yet but you always glance over who we got.

So you agree it’s not elite? That’s what I said

I check classes as a whole, yea we got some but there is a lot we need that’s out there to get

Of course they do but right now we are trending closer to being a top 10 class rather than a top 5 one. Need to be trending at a top 5 if we want to consistently be able to play with the big boys unless your evals are spot on, which they aren’t.

Are u going to do this every year?

You’re making a good point Rell, but I’m going to position it a different way.

We haven’t been landing OSU, Bama type talent every year, but we’ve had our fair share of highly ranked recruits and good classes on paper over the past 15 years.

My point is I think we focus too much on recruiting and not enough on development and coaching. Even Golden got some gems and got them into the league.

Hate to say it but our biggest problem has been signing good classes which amount to absolutely nothing. We’ve had enough talent over the past 15 years to consistently finish as a Top 25 team, but that has not been the case.

2023 class: #7 and half that class has already been pushed out
2021 class: #11 and half that class got pushed out
2018 class: #8 and that class was a complete failure

We are doing a poor job developing talent. We are the new Texas and ATM - doing less with more and I hate to admit that.

Now u’re getting it. I do not give a fck about recruiting classes. I’ve already posted the myth buster on our recruiting. We’ve been a top 3 class in the ACC & top 15 class in the nation sans a couple of yrs here & there since joining this putrid conference.

There’s two things that need to change expeditiously:

1. More top 10 players at their respective positions in the nation

2. Coaching & development

I saw a post of someone making fun of Lashlee for winning games and making the playoffs. Read the room.

Our coaching staffs have been horrible on the development side. Awful. That list made me sick.

Go Canes!
