They did it to prevent them using “Head to Head” Match up.I'm not Bama fan but ND being ranked ahead of Bama makes zero sense to me. Bama has much better wins than ND and it's not even close.
Wins don’t matter apparently…. According to the committee. And well, losses do. ND has better losses…. At least says the ****wad that spoke last night on the cfp show. Bama lost to fsu thus they’re lower.I'm not Bama fan but ND being ranked ahead of Bama makes zero sense to me. Bama has much better wins than ND and it's not even close.
Particularly is GT is blown out by Georgia. A blowout loss probably knocks them down to 23 or below.Speaking of conference games, will be interesting to see how the committee handles GT
Wins don’t matter. Losses are more important. Since Notre Dame has only lost tow good teams, they are (according to the committee) better than Alabama who lost a game to a bad team. Doesn’t matter that Notre Dame hasn’t beaten a single good team all year. Losses to good teams count more than wins over good teams.I'm not Bama fan but ND being ranked ahead of Bama makes zero sense to me. Bama has much better wins than ND and it's not even close.
If they win, they get the 11 seed.Speaking of conference games, will be interesting to see how the committee handles GT
Committee also said head to head matters…..committee makes the rules as they go.Committee said they won’t hurt a conference runner up (this will be selectively applied to Sec and B1G)
Blowout loss to FSU is grounds for automatic disqualificationCommittee already set the precedent last year with SMU that they will not penalize teams in a conf. championship. Only thing would be a blowout loss or a key injury.
Alabama is probably gonna lose at Auburn. So that will take care of all of this. Also, everybody needs to keep pounding the fact that we share a common opponent with Alabama and that opponent blue Alabama out and we intern blew out that opponent FSU. Common Opponents are supposed to mean something! Keep plastering it on social media! They are ranked #10 right now. If they lose the SEC championship game they would have 3 losses and would likely fall at least 3 spots in the final rankings. Does this not open up a spot for us or someone else in the playoffs over them as an at large?
If they win, they get the 11 seed.
If they play UVA and lose, I don’t know what happens to UVA. Do they get the 12 seed? Or no invite?
they didn't penalize SMU last year so deff won't do it to Bama
In that scenario, horrible that ACCCG winner doesn't get an auto bid.
Whatever rules you think would apply to us, do yourself a favor and discard them when talking about Bama, ND, etc. They are ranked #10 right now. If they lose the SEC championship game they would have 3 losses and would likely fall at least 3 spots in the final rankings. Does this not open up a spot for us or someone else in the playoffs over them as an at large?
If bama loses to Auburn they’re out. Too many 2 loss sec teams already in for them to get the full sec bias advantage. The ONLY way Alabama doesn't get in is if they lose to Auburn, AND the SEC Championship Game. That's it. They are safely in, because they will make the SEC Championship and you can't be punished for losing the conference championship game, provided they don't lose to Auburn as well.
Not ti mention before the game the committee absolutely said SMU could have been eliminated based on the outcome of the game. They lost in the last second in a game they were in control of for large portions. Thats the only reason they stayed in. Make no mistake if smu had lost 31-17 they wouldn't have been in.They didn’t penalize SMU because they didn’t have to. SMU was 8th before the ACCCG last year, at 11-1.
They lost, and were penalized. They went from 8 to 10 in the final rankings.
Where they were fortunate is the #11 team had 3 losses. So they penalized them, dropping them 2 spots but kept them in the bracket justifying it by record.
If Bama loses in the SECCG this year, to fall to 10-3, there are likely to be several 10-2 teams who will have an argument that they should jump them.
So you can’t say they didn’t penalize SMU for losing to Clemson. They did. They dropped them 2 spots. If they dropped Alabama 2 spots, they’d be out.
Interesting discourse. Just another curveball to all this bull****.
