I think with how the current playoffs are constructed it’s time for the ACC/SEC and B10/B12 challenge like they do in basketball but replace conference champs week with this.

Conference champ games are getting more and more meaningless. Line up the final conference standings for the P4 conferences and go 1vs1, 2vs2, 3vs3 etc.

This will give everyone a better idea of actual conference strength and the current format that is very objective will become a lot more subjective.

With conferences going to a 9 game schedule we will get less and less big time OOC games so to really find conference strength moving forward this is the best option IMO.

Also, this would be fantastic for viewership leading into the playoffs and they’d make a ton of money.

The only shot of this ever coming to fruition is the dissolution of conferences all together and going to a CFP subdivision where there is a core set of games that teams play and rotating other Pods or Regions. No shot the P2 want to elevate any other conferences. Creates more competition in negotiating TV revenue deals.

Great idea, but fat chance. May not have noticed, but the SEC & Big Ten are attempting to make other conferences irrelevant. They’re not throwing the ACC a lifeline.

If anything like this gets done it will be SEC v Big 10 and ACC vs Big 12
