ACC Incentivized Distribution

Don’t know where I saw it but the Big 10 numbers ain’t looking great for views… in a shocking turn of events people aren’t compelled seeing Indiana vs a crappy UCLA team
Not sure about Big 10 numbers, but the checks are already in the mail. Believe Big 10 payout to member schools exceeds SEC.

Im somewhat surprised at the SMU numbers. I assumed being in the Dallas market would give them a wider audience.

Maybe it has something to do with the success of TAMU and of course the historical dominance of the UT Longhorns in that market.
Almost nobody in Dallas gives a **** about SMU. It’s all UT, Oklahoma, TCU, various SEC fans, then SMU.

They have no local or regional support except among wealthy WASP families, They certainly have no national audience. The table shows they've had ZERO games on ABC/ESPN. Their first one will be against us tomorrow.

SMU's entire strategy in joining the ACC was to become relevant and build a brand. They are willing to pump 10s of millions a year into making it happen. How long they can continue that marketing investment is a good question. But it's going to take many years of winning before they have any brand equity and market presence.

They had almost the worst TV ratings in the ACC last year

The best thing FSU and Clemson could have done for us was petition to leave the ACC to re-negotiate incentives, become bottom feeders and lose to everyone and allow Rio to continue out-recruiting them. Not sure how it’s divvied-up as far as the ACC distribution, but the CFB Playoff is about $4 mil a round. Didn’t need another reason but we definitely have to finish this season on a high note.

I think we should give an appropriate figure to show our gratitude for them to fight for Miami to get this financial windfall this season.

As one who lives in DFW, you are spot on. No one cares about SMU, in DFW the local team is TCU, but the dominant teams are A&M, Texas, and OU with TCU and Baylor next. Then SMU and UNT
