I like Richt. But keep in mind that coaches almost always say other coaches are doing good jobs and shouldn't be fired.

Schnellenberger thought both Coker and Golden didn't need to be fired because they were doing a good enough job. Not sure if Schnellenberger said similiar things about Shannon's firing but it wouldn't surprise me if he did. Take Howard's comments about Richt with a grain of salt.
 
Yeah, the former coaches are usually singing the praises of the new hires until they start losing. Howard loved Golden and Shannon when they first took the job. But I guess we all did at least a little.

Forget about liking them when they're hired. Schnellenberger though Coker and Golden were doing a decent job when it was clear to almost everybody else they needed to be fired. To be fair he's not the only coach who acts this way- it's probably a pretty common coach thing. Jimmy Johnson was against Golden's firing too.
