September 26, 1975: On this day 49 years ago, the #1 Oklahoma Sooners escaped with a 20-17 victory over the Miami Hurricanes in front of 37,203 fans at the Orange Bowl. Oklahoma defensive lineman Lee Roy Selmon is pictured in the Miami Herald making a tackle on Miami's Larry Bates. The Sooners would return to the Orange Bowl on January 1, 1976 and defeat Michigan to 14-6 to clinch the national championship.
