River Ridge (LA) John Curtis High School safety Hunter Dale says the Canes remain in the hunt for him, and he says he's working with coach Hurlie Brown to set up his official visit date.
He plans to take four January visits - to Miami, Arizona, Arizona State and Florida. So far only one date is set, to Arizona State for Jan. 23.
Of UM, Dale says, "Miami, that's a school I've been liking. I love the tradition. They'll be very up there for me."
When does he expect to announce a final decision?
"I'll make my decision before signing day, but will announce on signing day," Dale said.
He says what he wants in a program at the next level is "a good position coach, (I will look at) the tradition of the school, the academics and how they're producing people in the league. And the head coach because he'll be shaping me into the man I'll be the next four years of my life."
Of Brown, his primary Cane recruiter, Dale said, "I love coach Brown. I've known him since I was in seventh grade when he came down to scout one of our kids at John Curtis. And they offered me my 10th grade year, one of the first offers I got.
"Coach Brown, he says they want me bad because they need some safeties. He said they want me there."
