Wrong....Miami went 9-4 the year after, including a head scratching loss to ECU.

The win over FSU in 00' is when we were back.

Um. Ok.

Every program has ups and downs. If "back" gets reset after every loss, kinda hard to ever be "back".

I think most point to that game [UCLA] as a turning point for the Davis era Canes.

I agree - UCLA was a big win for the program and maybe in retrospect a sign that we were on our way back. But 2000 FSU was definitely the moment we were back. It wasn’t as much a huge upset, as much as it was a statement that we were better than the #1 team in the country at the time. On the contrary UCLA felt like a crazy upset but nobody considered us among the best teams in the country after that.

To add to that - while beating Clemson would definitely be a statement that we’re back, I’m not sure that’s the only way. For example, if we were undefeated, lost a close game to Clemson in the ACC title game and still made the playoff (not likely but possible), I think most people would consider us to be back.

The 98 Win against UCLA was Huge...dont kid yourself...You could see the beginnings of what was to become...(unfortunately it put FSU into the title game which they lost to Tenn (Thank God)

The 81 Win against #1 Penn St was arguably UMs biggest Win (even though we beat them at Happy Valley in 79 when they were #17) Of course the tipped 2pt conv against Nebraska and subsequent win gets the notoriety.....I'll take Kelly to Brodsky's 80 TD in 81 and Win as the most important play and win.....Brodsky even ran right past PSUs sidelines before diving into EZ....

Was at that UCLA game when I was 8.. hooked me forever. I remember people showing up in the 3rd quarter and watching Edge go nuts. Still my favorite Cane of all time.

I stood on the sideline with QB Scott Covingtons Mom the entire second half...

Correct. We lost to Syracuse by 53 points just one week earlier.

Literally 7 days before the UCLA game we lost 66-13 to Syracuse. The UCLA game was a nice win against an overrated team that didn’t play defense. There was no talk about being “back” until 2000.
