Glen Logan hmmm
DT Logan: ‘Miami was and is My Dream School’
Miami has done the majority of their recruiting work in Florida but at defensive tackle, they’ve taken more of a national approach.
Destrehan (La.) star Glen Logan got their attention when Jethro Franklin was in Coral Gables. The offer went out late in the season but Randy Melvin has picked up the trail wherever it had been left off.
“They basically keep in touch, I communicate with Coach Melvin and I talk to Coach Golden on Twitter,” Logan said. “They were my dream school when I was younger so we’re building off that. Plus Ed Reed came from Destrehan too so that’s another thing. I’ve met him before but we’re not that close.”
Logan (6-4, 270) may have had an affinity for the Hurricanes in the past but he’s realized that extends up through the present as well.
“The more I think about it, Miami is still a school to be reckoned with,” Logan said. “I know I said it was my dream school but it is my dream school now. I’ve always been a fan of them and that hasn’t changed. I’m trying to get my dates in order so I can take the visit down there.”
Twenty schools have offered Logan with the biggest names being Alabama, Clemson, Florida, LSU, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, TCU, Tennessee, Texas, and Texas A&M.
“I had a top ten before but some of them changed lately so I’m open right now,” Logan said. “I would like to commit early though so I can take some of the pressure off. I’ll start planning a lot of visits over the summer and maybe even do a few camps. Some definates are Miami, TCU, Auburn, Alabama, and Georgia.”
Logan has only seen LSU so additional trips, in addition to his impressions of coaches, will help him eventually differentiate between his options.
“I want to have a relationship built with the staff and my position coach,” Logan said. “I’m looking for a cool dude who can help me develop as a player. He needs to be easy to get along with so we don’t have any problems. Taking my visits will help me figure out how serious I am about different schools.”
Logan had 8 sacks in 2014 for a team that didn’t lose until the state finals in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
“Cameron Wake and J.J. Watt are a couple guys I try to play like,” Logan said. “I view myself as an all-around defensive lineman who can lineup at any of the positions. I can rush the passer, stop the run, and I’m a leader on the field. The biggest thing I’m working on is my timing coming off the ball.”
Logan is a four star prospect according to the 247Sports Composite, ranking him 16th in the nation at his position and 13th overall in the state of Louisiana.
We got a great chance to land him it seems
