And, that actually brings up our percentage for the year to 24.5%. During this era, I've seen some incredible, sometimes inexplicable stuff on defense, with in-game decisions, clock management and just the general direction of the program. But, the state of our conversions* is really making a push to the top of this historically inefficient (from talent use to actual production) run.

*Please don't talk about 4th down being a money down that we're using 3rd down to get to, as we were 0-1 tonight. Ever since that perplexing PR piece about using 3rd down as a bridge to 4th downs, we're at .000% on 4th down.

Corch Corley is the biggest joke on the staff. And he's a goddam Nole to boot.

Coley is a HUGE fan of Golden and Onfrio.

Their existence keeps all the attention off the fact that he's easily one of the worst OC's in the country.

Hard to argue with that. We never threaten a defense on multiple levels.

Game planning vs Miami on both sides of the ball must be a **** dream for these coaches.

It's terrifying in its own right, but what pushes it over into the realm of unbelievable is the poor quality of defense we've faced this season.

103rd
83rd
74th
And a D-6 team or wherever Bethune plays.

God bless your heart for still trying to talk about specific issues.

I've talked about the rest of the **** since 2012. I've got nothing left to say that I haven't already repeated - probably 10x. At this point, I'm just observing, shrugging and waiting. While we take this dip to yet another program bottom, we might as well note some of the historic things occurring.

Historic stupidity is what we're observing.

I still remember where I was the day I witnessed what was, at the time, THE single most ridiculous thing I've ever seen a coach at a major program do. That game against Cal in the bowl game where Jahvid Best ran for like 700 yards against us.....Shannon calling a timeout AFTER AN INCOMPLETION on the last drive during what was SUPPOSE to be a two minute drill.

Then, tonight, I had the privilege of witnessing a moron choose NOT to extend the game and kick a field goal in an 11 point game to make it a one possession game.

His desperation and paranoia over his job has clearly begun to impact his in game decision making. You take a guy who's already a really bad gameday coach and inject this amount of pressure and stress and you get a case study in what on the job disaster looks like.

He is Mr Conservative which made that decision even odder.

Remember when Vernon Davis quit like 3 years ago and OP decided it was conclusive evidence "we back". COMPETITION BROOOO

What? I don't remember the post, but talent (with players leaving as proof of competition) has been the least of our issues, "bro."

*Let me edit to add: I've never concluded anything about being back. Since Golden took over, I've made a lot of posts about positive data points and negative data points. I was weary of concluding anything from the absolute beginning of this era. Plenty of posts can show that.

That's EXACTLY what I said to the guys I was watching the game with at the time.

It's obvious the pressure of the moment caused him to have a brain fart. I've been worried all offseason that the relative ease of the schedule was going to allow this guy to luck his way into an 8 win season...but after tonight I feel a lot better about the fact that we're staring at the beginning of the end.

24.5% and that's against Bethune, FAU, Nebraska and Cincy. Coley is just as bad as Donofrio.

Shocked he didn't go for the field goal. It was pretty obvious and yet the one time he shouldn't have been aggressive he went for it and failed. He's just a terrible coach and shouldn't even be around come Monday.

#lucane Can I please get a picture of the defense staring at the sidelines while Cincy is running a play.

How about Carter dropping 20 yards down field at the end of the game when it was clear Cincy was running out the clock.

Its a shame how they use him, think he would be an effective player in another system.

Ha. I actually went back and re-read that old thread. You must be drunk, trolling, angry or all of the above. Because even in that specific thread I mentioned it was exciting for me to see Davis quit because it was a "single data point..." in what had been a very pessimistic decade for me. I was excited over a single "bleep on the radar screen." It was a sign we finally were collecting some talent and that kid took off, as opposed to us settling for him being a starting corner for us, as we'd done with other players.

Good stuff. Was a fun thread to read. You're a lawyer, though, aren't you? I think you can see the evidence that competition and talent have increased around here. Just not the wins.
