4.6 Million People Watched Miami Beat Clemson

I'm going to say it again: Everyone wants to watch Mario Cristobal's Miami Hurricanes play on national television.

According to the ESPN PR Twitter account, 4.6 million people watched the Miami Hurricanes defeat the Clemson Tigers 41-13, which was enough to be the second most-watched game on Saturday, just behind Alabama versus Mississippi State, which drew 5.1 million viewers.

The game also peaked at 5.5 million people.

In Week 3, the Hurricanes drew 2.3 million viewers on a Friday night game against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, which ranked as the ninth most-watched game of the weekend.

The Hurricanes have been drawing viewership from all around the country, and I can understand why. This team is so much fun to watch--especially with the Malachi Toney and Darian Mensah duo going to work.

The team is on a bye-week before getting back onto the field to play against in-state rival, the Florida State Seminoles. The Canes and the Seminoles rivalry is one of the best in the country, so we can possibly see Miami crack the top-10 viewership for Week 7.

75% of our viewership is hate watching 🥲 I wish the young me as a Canes fan could see this now.

Yeah, college football media people tried to say nobody watched the game

numbers are down across the board overall this year. as for miami, we had 3 games on non Saturdays lol. one game on CW on saturday.

Let's think about this:

5-0 Miami - #4 team in the country (#4 in total ACC viewership thus far) - remaining TV games:
1. FSU (#2 in total ACC viewership thus far) - wash with FSU
2. Pitt (#8 in total ACC viewership thus far)
3. UNC (#3 in total ACC viewership thus far) - wash with UNC
4. ND - will be MASSIVE
5. Duke (#17 in total ACC viewership thus far)
6. VaTech (#12 in total ACC viewership thus far)
7. Boston College (#15 in total ACC viewership thus far)

3-2 Clemson (#1 in total ACC viewership thus far) - remaining TV games:
1. Charleston Southern - Clemson just sent me a BOGO offer on tix, no joke
2. VaTech (#12 ACC viewership)
3. FSU (#2 ACC viewership)
4. Syracuse (#16 ACC viewership)
5. GaTech (#6 ACC viewership)
FRIDAY - 6. Duke (#17 ACC viewership)
7. South Carolina

3-2 F$U (#2 in total ACC viewership thus far) - remaining TV games:
FRIDAY - 1. Louisville (#5 ACC viewership)
2. Miami (#4 ACC viewership)
3. Clemson (#1 ACC viewership)
4. Boston College (#15 ACC viewership)
FRIDAY - 5. Pitt (#8 ACC viewership)
6. NC State (#10 ACC viewership)
BLACK FRIDAY - 7. Florida

2-2 UNC (#3 in total ACC viewership thus far) - remaining TV games:
1. Pitt (#8 ACC viewership)
2. Duke (#17 ACC viewership)
3. Syracuse (#16 ACC viewership)
4. Miami (#4 ACC viewership)
5. UConn
6. Louisville (#5 ACC viewership)
7. UVa (#9 ACC viewership)
8. NC State (#10 ACC viewership)

Takeaways:

Miami has 4 pretty good games coming up, the numbers should skyrocket. The last 3 opponents will likely rise in viewership due to playing Miami, and Miami should not be "as penalized" playing those teams, as we should be Top 5 or Top 10 ranked.

Clemson has a pretty weak remaining slate, with the "best" possible games being F$U and GaTech. Unlikely to finish as the #1 most viewed ACC team.

F$U has some good games (except for Boston College), but three games are on Friday (one being Black Friday). It seems like F$U is our primary competition to be the most viewed ACC team (especially since one game is against Miami).

UNC has EIGHT remaining games, but they have a weak remaining slate. But they play Miami. Also, they suuuuuuuck. Unlikely to finish as the #1 most viewed ACC team.
