I’ve noticed on 3rd and even if very long, Rosier out of the shotgun will fake a handoff to the RB. Why?
I disagree. It hardly ever makes the linebackers hesitate. Just wasted motion. The LBs still look at the fake and have to respect it. Especially since the RB and /or Rosier can take off.
That can free up a WR down field or in the intermediate passing game.

I believe I've seen Rosier attempt this playLots of teams do it. Some teams do it without even having a RB in the backfield and it still works.
If they’re coached worth a **** it doesn’t , especially when we do it all the time. The LBs still look at the fake and have to respect it. Especially since the RB and /or Rosier can take off.

It’s another supplemental benefit of having an RB who can make a house call on any play.
You never put a man on the field that the defense doesn’t need to account for. I swear, for as much as some here claim to know about football, basic fundamentals escapes this board.
Sometimes on 3rd and long, the smart play is just to run it and play the field position battle. Having a guy like Homer guarantees that someone on defense is going to have to be assigned to him. That lends to better odds that a receiver will be single covered.
