30 Years...and Here We Are

The last time Miami beat FSU, Va. Tech, and Notre Dame in the same season was...

1987.

But it gets better. That year the Canes came from behind in the 4th quarter to beat FSU in Tallahassee. They beat Va. Tech at home by a score of 27-13. They also blew up Notre Dame in a nationally televised night game in Miami.

Does any of that sound familiar?

Oh, and of course, Miami went on to win the national championship that year by beating Oklahoma.

30 years later...here we are.

Miami has won all of its titles in odd # years and with republican Presidents.

"83, 87, 89, 91, 01, 17" has a ring to it.

I was born in 83 and we won a title. I had my 3rd boy this year. Maybe he is my little good luck charm like I was my dads.

We'll see.

Had my 1st son (Matthew Kane) on November 5, 2016 and well, so far so good. He’s my lucky charm (pun intended lol)...still going and he LOVES going to the games.
 
I wish it was as easy to win a championship in 2017 as it was in 1987. Now we have to play an extra game against Clemson, then first round of playoffs, then championship game. That's two extra games against top 5 teams. Still, I like our chances.

I gotta say... I like this thread!

Also, somewhat similar in that we had a close call against a bad team similar to BC in '01 and then ****** slapped 2 consecutive ranked opponents.

True but that would make it that much sweeter. Beat all those teams on the field instead of a poll. I think I'll cry when UM lifts that trophy. It has been a long hard road since 2002.
