Yes we were his number 2, he made no OVs besides UK

This happens to Kentucky every year

I'd rather have the kids that decommit from Mizzou and follow Kool. Maybe it's just me, but I'm sure Kool knows what to look for in a recruit--maybe he doesn't even want Kobe.

Have you seen their commitment list, no thanks.

Kobe might also be looking at USCe here

Kobe Smith is an early enrollee so his decommittment from UK this late in the process hurts for them. He will be out on the West coast playing in the Semper Fidelis All American game which doesn't have any UM prospects so there no one to get in his ear out there. Good thing is that he has taken an unofficial visit during the summer so he knows what has to UM offer plus with a new staff it should be more appealing.

Landing both Kobe Smith and flipping Ben Frazier as part of the 2016 class would be a massive win for UM's interior dline an Richt loves huge DT's that are nasty. Throw in a late D'Andre Christmas-giles present or Marcel Southall (from Texas) and that is one helluva of DT Trifecta.

The 3 are very different types so can't directly compare them.

Smith is space eating 0 or 1 techique NT type that is athletic enough to collapse a pocket quickly.

Watts is a speed penetrating DT that has that dog in him to hunt down the ball carrier, but he p!ays weaker competition in Chicago.

Glen Logan is an edge setting SDE \DT that plays grown man football against Louisiana competition.

So they are all different but if you want to rate them based on how well they do their roles then it is Logan 1) , Watts 2) , Smith 3) .

But keep in mind NT's that are athletic are at a premium in college football.

I think it would be more wise to look at who was offered by kool, not necessarily who committed.

This would be a nice get. He needs work on pad level and hands (Most DTs do) but getting him on campus early would put him in a position to push for snaps in the fall. Don't think he will break the two deep but definitely for depth

Gamecocks in final two for former Kentucky commit
BY PHIL KORNBLUT January 3, 2016

South Carolina could land another recruiting prize in the coming week in defensive lineman Kobe Smith of Lawrenceville, Ga.

Smith intends to will enroll at either USC or Kentucky on Sunday, Jan 10.

“It will be made Jan. 10 because that’s when I have to report to both,” Smith said.

He does not plan an announcement. He simply plans to show up at the school he has chosen.

“It just depends on where I feel right and where I can make great impact,” he said.

Smith is a former Kentucky and N.C. State commitment.

USC’s Will Muschamp and Travaris Robinson recruited him while he was at Auburn and jumped back in on him once he decommitted Dec. 27 from Kentucky.
