The math is very simple. You have 11 guys on D. If you send at least 4, you still have 7 in coverage. Sending 3 pass rushers against the 2nd best QB in the country is suicide. Don't expect Venables to do that on the regular when they finally play.

That LB was so scared of 5.3 Joe Burrow burning him that he retreated after initially going in. That play goes for maybe 15 yards if he loses containment and Burrow runs. Instead the LB let off his pressure and allowed 3 more seconds for Burrow to chuck it.

Actually, except for the last pass, he's played well, but his receivers have to make those catches. Having said that, I don't want two SEC teams in the playoffs, so Geaux Tigers!

There are no absolutes when you're coaching defense. But in most 3rd and long cases I prefer 2 deep man coverage with 4 man rush.

Hurts is in a 1-2 read system , normally those qbs get uncomfortable after first read or two. Burrow is a legit pro guy, who goes through all his reads. A three man rush will just give him all day to find guys against the 8 guys in coverage.

They continue to run a three man rush with this guy it’ll be over quickly. Five really good ol versus three dL, I’ll ride with burrow and that o.

If it’s me I’m going out in a blaze of glory , pressure and kill me quickly, mixed with some two deep man.

Rather than paper cutting me to death.

^ I agree. Good DCs adjust to opponent. Baker goes zone blitz or 8 man spot drop zone almost every time regardless of opponent.
