2027 Rutgers wide receiver commit Zion Vilma is looking to get down to Coral Gables for a visit by the end of the month, he told CanesInSight.

"I plan on trying to get a visit by the end of this month." Vilma checked out Rutgers last weekend -- which led to a verbal commitment to the Scarlet Knights; however, he still made it known the Hurricanes are sitting in his top three.

"[Miami is] definitely in the top-3 of my recruitment," Vilma told CanesInSight. "The relationship between [Mario Cristobal and Kevin Beard] has them keeping it real with me and still building that relationship."

Vilma expressed that currently there are five schools pursuing him the hardest: "Miami, Rutgers, Florida State, UCF, and Wake Forest."

Vilma currently ranks as a three-star prospect. According to the 247Sports Recruiting Rankings, he is ranked as the No. 855 nationally, No. 67 athlete, and No. 83 out of the Sunshine State.

Zion is measured in at 6-foot-1, 180-pounds. He currently attends Dr. Joaquin Garcia High School in Lake Worth, Florida, where he finished up his junior season with 47 receptions for 827 yards (17.6 YPC) and 11 touchdowns in 13 games. Zion also saw playing time on the defensive side of the ball, playing cornerback where he accomplished a total of 17 tackles and four interceptions.

Depth and low risk/cost and high reward if he turns out to be a stud. Round out elite position groups with kids who have potential but aren’t highly ranked. Cream will always rise to the top

 

If we mis out on something looks like he is next inline.

Rutgers has some funds and is good to have a secured spot just in case um never has that space.

He is a good athlete looking to see if he kills again sr year first few games. Feel he can play either side.

Likewise; however, in an interview i saw earlier this year, he seemed to only “like,” playing DB while he loved playing WR. Even so, that speed is intriguing.

It’s interesting he says he is talking to Cristobal and Beard; building a relationship with both of them. In the interview I’m referring to, he said he only chopped it up with them when he was on campus for a game/visit but besides that his main contacts were Joe Brown and Mike Rumph.

Glad to finally hear. He's right there with Jamar Thompson as locals I'd give the green light to… Slightly over Carey who I also like.

 

This is a tough one. I'm always ++++ on Vilmas. Not so much on Zions even though the guy gave us all he had.
