The Hurricanes have landed a commitment from a key 2027 target at the running back position, Mississippi running back Ty Keys.

A 6-foot-2, 200-pound standout who brings impressive athleticism, Keys excels with elite twitch and burst.

He makes quick cuts and accelerates well, able to make defenders miss while also having the patience to see gaps.

The Poplarville product rushed for nearly 3,300 yards this past season, racking up 45 touchdowns in the process en route to a state championship and "Mr. Football" award for 4A Mississippi.

His production and traits shine against some of the top talents in the country --- MVP at The Opening Finals and Under Armour Combine.

When speaking to CanesInSight last month, Keys expressed excitement about playing in the Hurricanes scheme of using multiple backs.

“When you have a guy that is going to switch out with you and do the same thing you are going to do, that is good," Keys said. "You trust everybody, I like it.”

The Mississippi native becomes running backs coach Favian Upshaw's first commitment during his Miami tenure.

"We definitely got a good connection," Keys said regarding his relationship with coach Upshaw.

Keys committed to Miami over the likes of Ole Miss and FSU, becoming the Hurricanes ninth commitment in the 2027 class following some decommitments last month.

I'll just leave it at this is a kid you shouldn't question if he can be a lead back. If he learns how to run less upright he can be that dude.

can this be corrected?

The kid is the real deal. Hopefully he doesn’t let the hype get to his head.

Get him into our locker room and things will take care of themselves.

can this be corrected?

I'm not sure what that means. What should I correct?

He taking about his running style .

He is da Truth

Kids a beast. You do gotta be curious what this comp is like in some of these clips though. It's a given where the ball is going and to say he's a patient runner would be a simple way to explain how he just walks around back there until he sees his holes(@Confidence1000) big pause.

Leveon Bell

I know the comp looks mid af, but imma trust my eyes on this one…this dude can play.

Even if the comp is mid, homie is doing his thing like he should.

comp dont mean ****, if you good you good. Put that talent in the right hands and if he is legit then he will be legit here.

Not sure who told you como don't mean ****. It's that comp that helps you develop your craft. That sharpens that knife & the gauge you weigh it on. That's definitely not saying if the comp is no good then no way he can be good. I've already said I think this kid can be a home run feature back. But I am curious how padded these stats might get against squads that don't necessarily belong on the same field.

I'm using NJ exaggeration it doesn't actually mean **** but it doesn't mean you cant be a great or elite player. That is basically what I mean by that, you still can be great even if you played ****** comp. Especially if you get to this level and the comp here can make you great and you have great teachers.

He does this every game regardless of the comp. He's just a really patient runner.
