Serious question:

Doesn't the coaches making Lyle the starter vs Syracuse (when Lyle clearly wasn't playing well) kind of undermine the "Lyle started vs ND so we know Lyle's talented" theory?

I'm sure I'll get hated on for asking this - but does no one find that concerning (or at least a little bit weird)?

My prediction is that over the course of the season, Cantwell will slowly take over the full-time RT spot. Then, they slide McCoy inside at guard with either SJ/Bucannon/Cogden (depends on who is playing well).

Our schedule sets us up for a lot of experimenting early on in the season

And first off, I’m not trying to be argumentative, have you been able to attend any practices or just information you’ve gathered from CIS? I only ask because we’ve heard the “know the playbook or always in the right place” but when the play comes in his direction then what?

No it doesn't. What's your hypothesis for why a coach would play anyone that lessens their chance of winning the game?

I'm not putting too much stock into the starting lineup for Stanford. If it is Buchanon the first drive, then Cogden and/or Cantwell will probably be in the next possession. With how easy our schedule is the first few games, it allows the staff to do a lot of experimenting with this group

Mario clearly believes in Lyle & I 100% think Mario is trying to do everything possible to win.

My hypothesis is "maybe" Mario believes in Lyle too much?

We'd all agree Mario has made some mistakes here & there's been Miami teams where we thought coaches played "their guys" too much, right?

It's commendable for coaches to support "their guys". But at some point supporting 1 guy can come at the determent to the other 85 guys on the team.

Maybe I'm on an island here - but "We can't question if Mario starting Lyle vs ND was a good move" seems like a strange absolute.

So you seem to agree that coaches play the guys they think are most likely to help them win. You just think your Lyle view is superior to Mario's with respect to winning. Got it. i guess only one vote counts in this case.

It’s what I’ve heard from someone who has seen practice. Again, it is secondhand information, but this is a person who has given me good information on what he’s seen before. So I trust what he says.

Think it’s old footage. Pretty positive he’s actually hurt. He doesn’t get mentioned anymore in d money reports
 
So 2 true freshman starting on the line, history says no bueno. But if anyone could pull off a natty with 2 true freshman starters on the offensive line it has to be Mario and Alex right.

Just because coaches are try their hardest to win doesn't mean they can't make mistakes. Looks like I am on an island.

I think they will rotate. I really doubt they both start the entire year but I've seen stranger things.
