I think Lofton is going to surprise a lot of people this year. Especially the ones who left him for dead after last year.

I mean, to be fair, he’s way more greentree legend than actual producer at this point. So the “show me” response to him is earned. I see the talent, but he also reminds me of so many others. He’s kind of a tweeter. Not huge like some of the beast TEs you see now, and last yr he wasn’t fast either.
I have lots of hope for him, especially given the state of the position group on our roster.

I’m also hopeful we see the Jordan Lyle that beat out Mark Fletcher last fall. But of what I’ve seen so far it’s more legend than production.

I am also excited to see round two of Malachi Toney. That kid is just a special football player.

I hope he stays healthy and becomes the player state media proclaimed as the best player in the roster. I was critical of him last year despite being aware of the injuries, but if you're out on the field perform. If you can't perform then take a seat and heal up.

The offense will be dynamic and nearly unstoppable if he produces at the Greentree all American level state media witnessed. From all accounts, he's a good kid - I want him to be successful.

OT: With media only able to watch part of practice (typically held in the indoor), do we need to create a Soffer Indoor All-American list in addition to a Greentree All-American list? Just some food for thought

I understand and appreciate your views on these things but I'll add a few things.

The fact that Lyle was the starter in the opener vs Notre Dame last year proves it is not legend. Based on everything we know about Mario Cristobal and the culture he has instilled here, the very fact that Lyle was the starter vs Notre Dame tells us that Lyle earned that through his performance vs the best competition Greentree had to offer.

As far as Lofton is concerned I saw what he did as a true freshman in 2024 and I was impressed by the playmaking ability he flashed and the uncharacteristic explosiveness he showed for someone of his build and extrapolate based on the experience he has gained even through an injury plagued sophomore year where he was clearly overweight and not himself. I expect him to build on what he showed as a true freshman and have a solidly productive year.

Your points are well taken but I'll say that regarding Lofton, all the information/evidence I need is what he put on film as a true freshman in 2024. I base everything I project from him on that therefore anything said about him by the "State Media" is irrelevant to me. I expect Lofton to use the skills he showed/flashed in 2024 with the added benefit of more experience, knowledge of the system and being in shape/injury free to have a very solid and productive 2026.

I want to see him used in the flats and in space more than a vertical/seam threat. He's much more dynamic running with the ball in space than as a seam threat. The one exception would be if we can get him vertical on the wheel, but spam him in the flats

I like how you have Jackson Cantwell as the primary backup to both Tackle positions in addition to starting at LG. This is probably more realistic.

I also like your attempt to put the RB room in order of rank. I just listed all 6 and started with Fletch because I had no idea how to rank them lol.

This is exactly how I envision him being used. I do think he has the explosion to get vertical on the wheel or if Dawson can isolate him vs certain LBs or Safeties.

Regarding the RBs, I wonder if Dawson and MC will rank/distribute carries (after Fletch) based off the week's matchup like what the Patriots did with their RBs under Belichick.

This is of course predicated by if those carries have been earned during practice, but all things equal I wonder if the game plan will determine how carries are distributed

This is an excellent point and that would be something I would love to see Mario do this season.
